... or maybe anyone who speaks Dutch.

I'm trying to recall what is (at least I think that's what it is) a Dutch children's song/poem/nursery rhyme. Problem is I've got extremely little to go on. I just remember the general tune and a word or 2 phonetically (so they're probably spelled differently and might actually be half a word or more than a word). I don't even know if it is the whole thing or just a single verse from a longer work.

If you think you can help me please PM me. I don't want to post what I have here because there is a chance it's not what I was lead to believe it to be, and it would end up embarassing. Sorry. But if I do find it out and it turns out to be what I'm looking for (i.e. just an innocent children's song) I will post it here.
I'm half Dutch and have an excruciatingly Dutch last name but I don't speak the language. However I do find myself constantly putting my fingers into dykes.

Ah, college. Those were the days.

Most dykes don't wanna be fingered by MEN. Just sayin'
Have you tried Google Translate?
Me too, preferably a blond, about five feet six inches tall, with a nice laugh and who likes Asian food.... preferably a woman.

ChaunceyK: Have you tried Google Translate?
I tried Google search. I can't see how Google translate can help me, since I remember almost nothing about the poem. Searching for different combinations of "Dutch poem" + variants of how I think a word might be spelled got me nothing.

Since the day is now starting in the Netherlands, I'll bump this. If I get nothing, I'll see if I can find some forum for people learning Dutch.
Could you be more specific?

Maybe it is an "exorcism" that works for a Djinn?

"Go out of here and..."

Looking for a Dutch person?

Just remain silent until you hear the sounds of wooden shoes clacking on the ground. When you hear the *clickity clack* of wooden shoes, odds are that the person wearing them is indeed Dutch.
I'm Dutch, though I suck at children rhymes etc. I don't have kids and even as a kid I hated most kid songs etc.
Post or PM what you have.
I do hope you know the difference between Dutch (English for people and language of The Netherlands) and Deutsch (German for German).
A dyke breach happens by water flowing over the top, or if in case of peat dykes, it can get waterlogged and just flow away entirely by a current starting underneath, they can't be stopped by putting fingers in holes, just saying.

Hans Brinker isn't a dutch story, but an American written one. Still, it's nice to know TinyE is half Dutch. It explains why he's such a likelable person ;-).

If I can make sense of the OP's tidbit he remembers, I'll try if I can work out the answer.

Don't have any children myself though, my knowledge of child poems only coveres the ones I know when I was one in the seventies.
I've sent you a PM, OP, although, like the others, I can't guarantee I know it. :)

I can't believe someone got it based only on "crack" and "hopla".

Thanks! It was driving me crazy for the last 2 days.

Sorry I didn't make this as a question, so I can't mark the solution, but you get +1 from me.

No problem. It can be super frustrating to have something stuck in your head you don't know. :P
