Original Post

Something bad has happened again and as per GOG's typical MO, there was nary a voice. So, what's on today's menu? Worldwide gifting restrictions. Remember Witcher 3's temporarily unavailable gifting status? Well, it seems that 4 months later, several other games have joined their brother. What does this mean? This is really silly. Some time ago people had problems finding recipients for Witcher 2 gift codes...
Thank you, Fact Cat. Exposing the hidden and giving voice to the unspoken truth, as always.

I wish they would have just said something about it. I could possibly cope with it with a well-reasoned, transparent explanation from GOG, but to just do it with no notice? Not OK.

Thanks for making this depressing list... +1 to you. And like - ∞ for gog.
Ah, as usual on good old gog.com. Good News TM strikes again. +1 for the list

I assume this means if one has old gift codes of some of these, they still work, correct? Just that one can no longer buy these as gifts?

I think it's a correct but unconfirmed, as of yet, assumption.

Let's test that. I'll PM you my Legend of Grimrock 2 code and you see if the system shows it as redeemable to you.
Hah, gOg just keeps them coming.
This is a really sad turn of events, but thanks for doing GOG's job for them by posting this, Grargar.

So far, typing my own codes it seems they still work. Like the Divinity series says "Claim these 3 items" at the top. Granted I already own them so couldn't select them for the next step, but they reach the first screen as normal.
A great initiative Grargar for highlighting another silent and sneaky change aka Good News™ by GOG which has dire ramifications for all their legitimate customers worldwide.

Blocking those games from gifting will hurt GOG's revenue. I've gifted and received quite a few games from that list. As of late I usually spend more money on gifts than buying for myself. And the nice people who bought gifts for me also spent money that I couldn't have afforded.

TBH I had totally forgotten about the Witcher 3 restrictions, I was considering gifting this one to a friend...
Well, maybe a nice bottle of single malt scotch then...

It's funny. Every time something happens here and GOG maintains radio silence, the community always breaks the news.
