Hi, I was having a problem with my original installation of Lands of Lore, where I am on a widescreen monitor, yet there was a black bar at the bottom of my monitor. I managed to fix it by changing the "keep aspect ratio" into true in the config file, but now there are two black bars to the left and right of the game window. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use DosBox to adjust this so its fits my widescreen, 1920x1080 monitor.
Try editing the .conf file:

[sdl]
fullresolution=desktop
output=overlay

Since gog's configurator screws up the layout of the .conf files, you might want to reinstall the game first before editing.

That put my Lands of Lore app into a tiny window, surrounded by a big black box. I tried lowering my desktop resolution to 800x600 to compromise, but there is still a large black border around the entire game.

Try the following:

fullscreen=true
fulldouble=true
fullresolution=1920x1080
windowresolution=original
output=overlay

That actually worsened the problem. It still appears in a black-bordered window, except whenever I mouse over anything, the pixels distort, and redraw themselves scattered all over the screen. Sorry this is becoming such a hassle, I really want this game to work. Lands of Lore 2 was one of my favorite childhood games, and I never had the opportunity to play the first one. Thanks in advance,

From what I recall, the first Lands of Lore is a 4:3 game, so it will not fit properly in a widescreen monitor. You could potentially stretch it to 16:9 (no black bars on the sides), but that would distort the image. Are you looking for a distorted image or a correct one?

I switched it back so it scaled to a normal window with two black bars to either side. I am assuming their is no way to get widescreen without stretching the image. I tried setting the resolution to original, and it stretched across my widescreen.

One last minor issue, I am getting a lot of sound stuttering between videos, and load screens. It doesn't persist in-game. I tried switching the game to midi (which actually improved the sound quality) for everything except digital samples, where there was no midi option. The problem is still persisting. It is a minor issue, but still annoying.

Thanks!,
