Are KOEI games out of reach for GOG? They released several good strategy games over the last 30 years and was wondering if anyone knows anything that would make their game impossible to come here.

Yes, unfortunately publishers with a K in their name are not accepted here.

I mean seriously how are we meant to know? I suppose one could say that they are a Japenese firm, and that would indicate they are heavily in favour of DRM, however that is mere speculation.
GOG and Japanese publishers sure make a wonderful combination...

Would be nice. I crave Warriors Orochi, myself... Or the Berserk-themed warrior game!

If you don't know, obviously you weren't meant to reply? Some people know and they could reply. Others could guess and they could reply.
I mean, feel free to say anything you want, but just because you don't know it doesn't mean others don't know or have an idea about it.

I was hoping for the Genghis Khan games, or that WW2 one...anyway, yes they made several good deep games. It's a shame none of them are here.

I'm going to be honest here, I didn't realize Koei published PC games.

A more important question: Were any actually localized?

Must have been because I played Romance of the three kingdoms 2 in college 88-89ish:

Ah, RTK. That's one of those fun strategy games where you have to manage your rice, isn't it? Or maybe I'm thinking of the equally dry sounding Nobunaga's Ambition.

Very few, in fact.
I have spent, like hundreds of hours on Romance of The Three Kingdoms X on the PS2, the game was so much fun, the PC PUK version was even better, with improved graphics/presentation and tons of additional contact, too bad it was never fully translated into english.

I played the Nobunaga's Ambition games on the PS2 as well, pretty good games and they had a nice soundtrack and beautiful art on the portraits, got me hooked on the the Sengoku era.

Either Dynasty Warriors game would be an instabuy for me. Judging by the pricing of Koei's games on Steam I wouldn't be surprised if GOG had actually rejected them, however. I mean, for frigg's sake, the original Romance of the Three Kingdom's (originally released in 1985!) is being sold for 13 bucks on Steam.
would be nice additions but i guess it is really unlikely for them to show up here sadly
Well this is strange.
I didn't know these games were on Steam. I just checked and both Genghis Khan 1 and 2 are on Steam, but for some reason they are not the English versions. I mean..why not? I remember playing the first one, in English...what...almost 30 years ago? Weird.

Thanks all for your input.

Odds are that the distribution outside of Japan was handled by other parties that did their own translations and that Koei doesn't have the rights to those. It's quite a common situation.

Most games in general are terrible and there's no point in looking at those. What matters is that there's many great Japanese games.
