Grargar: I'm not sure about that. If I recall correctly, the gifter doesn't have the option of gifting it anymore (it's a similar case to games bought from Humble Store; you don't have the option to gift those games, only redeem them).
The initial gifter doesn't have the option but the one he/she gifted the link to when redeems the initial gift link to their email, they can then forward that link to someone else if they haven't redeemed the game yet. It will still work because the game is unredeemed to any particular steam account.

Interesting indeed. That first link, to be precise.... kind of makes me even more suspicious of Advancedhero having an alt...

Jesting aside, I DO hope you read that, and that others do as well since it furthers the hypothesis.

I really did not fully understood this explanation so I made an experiment and confirmed this.

When a person gets a gift from HB they to redeem it on the HB site with an email.
If the email is not registered with HB then they get an email with a new link the same kind you get with any HB purchase.
That second link let's you download a game or redeem a game to Steam and it could easily be forwarded to someone else.

Sorry about the confusion as I wrote it in bit of a hurry, so I forgot to mention that it is infact the second link that can be forwarded, as you just clarified. :)

Yep, after doing it and re-reading your message I thought that was what was missing.
Well, but now I understand it perfectly.
:-)

BTW anyone want's a Paranautical Activity (Early Access) on Steam?

No thanks but +1 for your generosity as usual:)
Yes, as it has come to my attention, i did gave away AIM 2 Clan Wars to the user pokeharvest today, the Thief Gold i really don't mind because it was kind of a "free for all" thing since i publicly gave away the link for it but it's kind of sad the other game since it "denied" the offering to someone that could really wanted the game...

Indeed that is very bad form as trading a gifted game certainly falls under the scamming category. Though hopefully apart from the one user, the rest that received a game including myself are really appreciative of your generosity.

Kinda the same thing with advancedhero

Thread here where he is given Witcher 1 talking about how much he will love to play it (June 17)
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/dungeon_keeper_and_the_witcher_giveaway

Posts here claiming "a friend gave him another copy" and he has one for trade (June 20)
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gogs_general_trading_thread/post253
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/trading_for_a_copy_of_bg_2

Post same day claiming its "GONE" (June 20)
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gogs_general_trading_thread/post264

Post trying to trade Witcher 1 again (July 14)
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/a_humble_trade

For someone who didn't know it was given for free, how does he run across so many copies?

I assume you misspoke, because trading a gifted game isn't scamming. A gift is a gift, once a person gives a gift the new owner gets to do whatever they like with it.
I disagree. At least in this case, the implication is someone is taking the gift for their own use. Not to glob up every free thing that is available and trade it for things more desirable. In terms of Thief, that game being offered is clearly a scam as the code was out in the open and will already be claimed. That is a case where a game is being offered the he doesn't even have. That is a scam...

If AdvancedHero and Ceterum are the same people, I think it would probably be less hard to get a job and earn some money than all the arguing he's having with himself. Or maybe he's just not willing to spend money if he can scam it for free. The problem is that there are always immoral and unscrupulous people who are perfectly willing to step on someone or stab someone in the back to get what they want.
