Breja: Comparing it to Starcraft where you only play one faction with set assortment of units at a time doesn't make much sense.

timppu: Mostly I guess, but I recall there were quite many missions in SC where you controlled two different factions at the same time. Like the very last mission of the main game (you control both Terrans and Protoss), or I recall some missions where you had both Zerg and Terran units, and Zerg and Protoss.

Anyway, I might give HOMM a new chance at some point, with some of the tips I got from this thread.
yep starcraft is the best

Obviously it is nothing like the games in the subject, but I just brought it up just to compare certain game mechanisms in general. So it is like an apples to oranges where you are comparing the color of their seeds (apple seeds have a better color IMHO).

Ps. I wrote this message on my Raspberry Pi4 connected to my TV. How cool is that? Ok maybe not so cool, but anyway...

Hm, in my mind I place Heroes of Might and Magic closer to the realm of wargaming, whereas King's Bounty feels closer to the RPG realm, as in "an RPG with tactical elements". To me playing King's Bounty is a more intimate experience; smaller in scale, closer narrative, and where you have characters with personalities, whereas HoMM is more of an arm-chair general and grand tactician experience to me. I have my favourites in both camps (Legends, Crossworlds vs HoMM 2 and 4).

If I had pick one franchise it would probably be King's Bounty, because to me it has more of a personality.

Disciples is the game I discovered later. After I played HOMM or even KB. And I considered pure shit

Good Art for nothing. Good combat System for nothing. Good ambience for nothing. The gameplay sucks. Fake freedom forced linearity. If you can't defeat an enemy in some moments in the campaign you can't. The problem is that it is the only route you can choose to continue the campaign. During the game you will end with the experience system you need to be in, Artificial RPG system at its best mixed with a no existent strategical system.

These games are a lie. Sorry for sound so hard.

I honestly don't even understand what you're saying. Disciples is no more or less linear than HoMM.

Of course it is

HOMM masters the balance in strategy/wargame/rpg game, Disciples wants to cheat you about it.

>shrug< it's not really much of a conversation unless you start being coherent and explain what you mean. I'm not going to waste time trying to guess.
