A quick search didn't reveal that such a thread was already on the forum, so I figured I'd make one to let people know about this.

A kickstarter is currently ongoing (26 days left) for teams made up of people that made the Shadow Hearts and Wild Arms series to fund their new games - Penny Blood as the spiritual successor to the Shadow Hearts series and Armed Fantasia as the spiritual successor to the Wild Arms series.

Q&A:

Q: How does it all work?

A: From what I've understood, the total funds you see gathered directly contribute to the common goals for both games, displayed in the middle on the list of stretch goals.
For example, "both games funded" and "console versions" for both games have been cleared already.

While goals for individual games are displayed (AF on the left and PB on the left). backers don't have direct insight into how much money goes to the team for each individual game aside from seeing if the goals have been met.
E.g. if one game gets more funds than the other one, its own goals will be met faster, but we don't see that openly, given the kickstarter's structure.

They have 2 separate teams for each game, they're just funding both in one kickstarter.

Q: So I'm expected to back both games?

A: No, you don't have to.
There are plenty of backing tiers for AF, PB, or both games.
You can also pick between physical copies of the games or digital ones - said choice also applies to their artbooks and soundtracks.
Some rewards are physical only, given their nature. E.g. a keychain is a physical item.

Q: Em, why are the default pledge amounts listed in yen?

A: Might be because the developers are Japanese, but you'll see the equivalent amount in the currency you go for.
E.g. the Combo Digital Deal for both games says "¥11,000" and it equates to about 79€ and you get digital copies of both games on the platform of your choosing.

Q: So I can pick on what platform I want the game(s) on?

A: Yup. According to the people behind the kickstarter, you'll get an email a few months after the kickstarter is over to specify what copy (or copies) you want.

Q: Do they have an estimate on when the games will be made and on what platform?

A: Sometime in 2025 for now. They'll let the backers know if that changes.
They plan on plenty of platforms, including Steam and GOG on PC and console versions have been met as a stretch goal.

Q: Do they have any promotional material?

A: Yup, it's listed on the top of the "Campaign" tab.
For descriptions of each game on the kickstarter, scroll down past the stretch goals.

(The goals were moved on top, so they're more visible and not buried under the long game presentations.)
Currently, the trailers for both games and the joined kickstarter are on their youtube channels, for example.

Q: Where can I get more information?

A: I'd recommend checking the FAQ section on the kickstarter itself.

Hopefully, that covers the basic information people might want to know or the parts that weren't immediately obvious are clearer now.
I don't work with either team, I'm just a backer and a fan of the Shadow Hearts series that wants Penny Blood to be as awesome as the trailer suggests and I wish Armed Fantasia all the best too. :)

Thanks for letting me know, although I have to say that they are pretty vague about platforms and storefronts they plan to release those games at. "Pc" might as well mean EGS for all I know. I wonder which engine are they using too, that could be a hint where will we see the game released...eventually in 2025+.

Last game I backed was Blasphemous and they were very clear from the get go which platforms and stores they would release the game at, adding more during the ks campaign and letting people choose (where applicable) until shortly before the release.

NO EXCLUSIVES PLEASE

It’s refreshing to see so many people willing to share with other gamers. We agree and, matter of fact, feel it’s BETTER for a new IP to have more people playing it, and so we have made this abundantly clear to any investor or potential publisher with the goal to release this on as many platforms as possible so that everyone can enjoy it.
In addition, they seem to have confirmed a GOG release:

Thanks dude, so it's UE5. That's some good info. If the worst would happen and they mess up their ks debut by mismanaging those funds somehow, there is still the safety net of UE funding/timed egs exclusivity, thought I'm sure it would be to a great dismay of backers. That's still a better alternative to not releasing those games at all though. So I'm confident that they will release at least one of these two on time. Will definitely keep an eye on it, cheers!

Haven't kept up with GOG's forum in forever, so thank you for pointing out they would like to make a GOG release for the games. :D
Plans for a GOG release are now official, according to the kickstarter's FAQ section. :D
The developers have added a FAQ section to the kickstarter with information on the release date of the game, platforms they want to release the games on and more.
Always great to hear of new games releasing on GOG day one, especially from a Japanese developer.
