It’s time to brew coffee and stretch your fingers – after a few years of absence, the Insomnia Promo event is back on GOG! With it arrive the best deals and the exciting anticipation that will drive away your sleep, while also giving loads of fun!

This Summer Sale on GOG is already full of deep discounts, yet we saved the most delicious treats, especially for the Insomnia Promo. How does it work? Starting now, once every 6 hours a new great game will appear here, bearing an insanely deep discount. Right now, you can already see the first title – the best-selling strategy game Frostpunk 85% off!

What’s the catch? Every game appearing during the event will only have 6 hours to catch your attention. After the time runs out, a new game will appear, while the former one will get back on our Summer Sale with the initial, lower discount. The other factor you have to be aware of is the limited stock of Insomnia deals!

So, be on the lookout, because cool titles like Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don't Dry and Solasta: Crown of the Magister Supporter Edition are bound to appear at the Insomnia Promo event at some time (when? We’ll just have to wait and see ;)). So, take that caffeine shot and be on the lookout for great discounted games!

bartica1: 52 Narita Boy copies sold at the end of the sale.
Yeah, by the time you put it up, it was showing the status for Narita Boy. At the time you posted, 13 sold.
It finished on 448/500 so 52 sold.

edit: LOL! You edited your post a second time, bartica, just as I was replying to it. :)

(rant)

Ok, so I've watched pretty much the whole Insomnia sale pretty closely...

... and last night went to bed when GOG seemed to mess up the sale (around the seemingly endless PC Builder)...

... came back online as soon as I woke up (5 hours)...

... and missed Two Worlds II, the one game I planned on getting in rewind.

End of the world?

No... it's a video game...

... but...

... this experience really soured me on this Insomnia Sale (especially since I watched it pretty religiously last week... even for upcoming titles). GOG, customers are supposed to have good, positive experiences spending their money during a sale (especially as things wind down)... not feeling like a particular sale was a fumbled gimmick.

Suddenly those newsletter discounts look like such a better idea than this; I should have just picked up Pillars of Eternity's newsletter discount and called it a day without the hassle of this particular sale.

(End of rant)

Yep, it's all about marketing ploys and trickery. It's not nice being treated this way, rather than being straightforward. It's all about playing games with customers to get maximum profit.

Alas we mostly let them get away with it.
People criticised GOG because the insomnia promo was not really insomnia promo but flashflashdeals promo (I agree that perhaps the promo should have been given another name) . Now people criticise GOG because the insomnia promo pushes them to stay awake and waiting for the right deals.

I´m the first to criticise GOG when they do things wrong, like all the shenanigans with the offline installers, but I think that sometimes people take some things too seriously.

Well, I'm equally disappointed in myself for watching this sale so closely (what was I thinking?), getting bent out of shape over Two Worlds II, and GOG's fumbling of the sale.

Can you tell I haven't had my coffee?

But yes, gimmicks will not strengthen GOG's overall sales. Clear rules, fair pricing, and strong customer service will. I just hate that this has colored my final day of the sale... and seeing that I usually walk away from sales when I'm frustrated...

I can say I'll never pay attention to another Insomnia Sale. I'm done with that. I'll watch paint dry or grass grow. Costs less and just as fun.

Maybe coffee will make everything look better? (grumble)

If you've followed the Insomnia Sale, you may find that GOG has fumbled the sale in the last 24 hours. Tags didn't match, games didn't change, etc. There's no reason to stay watching if GOG doesn't have their sale together.

This reminds me of a written contest early in this sale. GOG made a mistake and publicly closed the contest prior to the stated end time. They closed the contest 2 hours early. I contacted someone and they indeed had made a mistake. In the end, they did re-open the contest for a few hours more, but I'm sure some never saw that.

This is now GOG S.O.P. it seems.

I feel your pain. I stayed up late to get Field of Glory 2 Medieval, but then they put PC Building Simulator up for 6 hours, so I had no choice but to go to sleep and miss it. Hopefully it'll be on sale for a similar discount in the future.

One of the points of the old Insomnia sales was unpredictability, wasn´t it? ;)

But yes, GOG does lots of things wrong. The whole company is ruled by incompetents and it shows. It is surprising the company is still running and not bankrupt, to be honest.

I'm not sure what you mean by newsletter discounts.

Is it that, as I suspect, I've been turning away discounts in my stubborn insistence on preferring RSS to more e-mail clutter in my inbox?'

(It wouldn't change my decision to use RSS. I'm just curious.)

If you are subscribed to GOG's newsletter, you get "exclusive" offers, usually at a somewhat better (~5-10%) discount than available on the website, at a rate of about one game every fortnight.
