It’s time to brew coffee and stretch your fingers – after a few years of absence, the Insomnia Promo event is back on GOG! With it arrive the best deals and the exciting anticipation that will drive away your sleep, while also giving loads of fun!

This Summer Sale on GOG is already full of deep discounts, yet we saved the most delicious treats, especially for the Insomnia Promo. How does it work? Starting now, once every 6 hours a new great game will appear here, bearing an insanely deep discount. Right now, you can already see the first title – the best-selling strategy game Frostpunk 85% off!

What’s the catch? Every game appearing during the event will only have 6 hours to catch your attention. After the time runs out, a new game will appear, while the former one will get back on our Summer Sale with the initial, lower discount. The other factor you have to be aware of is the limited stock of Insomnia deals!

So, be on the lookout, because cool titles like Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don't Dry and Solasta: Crown of the Magister Supporter Edition are bound to appear at the Insomnia Promo event at some time (when? We’ll just have to wait and see ;)). So, take that caffeine shot and be on the lookout for great discounted games!

silveri: Wait, did the last couple of promotionals run faster than 1 hour time slots?

I missed Hitman Blood Money a SECOND time because of this?
I didn't exactly check in on the hour religiously, but as far as I could tell, no, they stuck to one-hour offers after the weird kerfuffle last night. I believe Blood Money was up from 9:00 to 10:00 UTC.

But maybe somebody else picked up some spare gift copies.

mrkgnao: Since the somnia sale might be over, I thought I'd compare its discounts to those of the current steam summer sale, to see if the somnia discounts were indeed significantly better than the competition's regular discounts.

TLDR: Yes, they were generally better, with the glaring exception of one company (Kalypso).

=====================================================================================

GOG MUCH BETTER (by 15-35%) --- N = 4
==================================
6. Blood: Fresh Supply (-75%) vs. (-40%)
17. Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest (-70%) vs. (-50%)
20. Human Resource Machine (-75%) vs. (-60%)
39. Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York (-80%) vs. (-60%)
@mrkgnao - thanks for compiling this list that provides a good at-a-glance comparison of the GOG Insomnia 2022 discounts versus Steam Summer Sale 2022 discounts for the same selection of games

One thing I think I've spotted (not sure if there's any other slight discrepancies):

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest had its Insomnia Rewind discount rate increase from 70% off, to 75% off. A solitary and weird outlier data point during the entire Insomnia Promo / Insomnia Rewind ... as all the other Insomnia Rewind listed games kept the same discount rates I think.

I think I got bit by checking right at the top of the hour. I may have seen the previous hour's game, and not the current, but honestly at this point I'm just not sure. My hourly timer sounded, I put away what I was working on, went to my GOG tab in the browser, saw Blood Money and thought "Oh, cool!" then hit refresh and the offer was gone and the sale was over.

That's on me, I guess. Next time I'll know to check on the 5 and 35 minute marks, not just "top of the hour".

I believe I saw on here that when that discount increase occurred it was only for a short time and then went back to the previous discount from its' first appearance in the insomnia sale.

I sent you a DM, but maybe you didn't notice. I do have an unclaimed copy if you need it. I'll be on for a few minutes checking my wishlist.

helpo1: Even though I didn't actually end up buying anything myself in this sale, it was nice to come back for two weeks (after pretty much years of complete forum inactivity) and see the community work together for a cause (even one so seemingly small and unimportant as Insomnia deal tracking) again.
Many thanks for your as-always-memorable tracking. It was indeed a nice experience.

I noticed one time when I left the front page open in a tab for a long time that the timer had lagged by something like 10 minutes. After that, I got in the habit of reloading the page whenever I wanted to check the current deal. I guess that's probably what caught you out, too. Again, I don't get any feeling that the deals were actually changing more often than once per hour.
At any rate, they've almost never done these types of sales more than once per year, so you should be safe for a while. :)

Thank you for reminding me. I had indeed forgotten to update this. Did so now. Thanks.

Thank you keeping track of all the insomnia game deals during this whole thing. That was a very nice thing to do and I know a lot of people appreciated knowing what the upcoming games were. It helped a lot on the sleep portion. =D

I thought I saw a different price at first but it did still say 75% off so I think it did stay lower and it was just either an additional odditiy or my eyes or memory were playing tricks on me.

Thanks to everyone tracking the deals, particularly helpo1. It is interesting to see how well various stuff sold. Hopefully the excitement for Hitman stuff will encourage a fully DRM-free version of the newer games for those who want it (gave up the free one we got after a minute or two myself). And hopefully now we can wait another six years for the next one like this :/.

A big thank you for offering a trade and helping me figuring out how that works via gift codes. Very nice idea you had there!

Everyone else: He offered me a gift code for Hitman Blood Money in trade for an equivalent value game that he wanted. I bought it and we traded gift codes and now we're both happy.

helpo1: Upcoming:
(none)
Thank you for keeping us all updated! I wouldn't have been able to keep up with the sale and buy any games without you and everyone else who helped. Thank you! :)
Thanks to everyone who contributed to tracking the upcoming insomnia deals. It allowed me to plan and come back for the games I actually wanted to get.

I kind of wonder if GOG are planning an encore sale like they had last time, especially since the Summer sale officially ends a fair bit after a weekly sale would normally begin. Guess we'll find out in a few hours.

Thank you helpo1 for organizing this useful effort
