Hob has been on sale on steam twice already, but not yet on GOG. Also the base price of the game is cheaper on steam. What's up with that?
Ask the publisher .

Maybe it has something to do with Runic Games (Hob developers) being dead or soon to be dead.

You're getting a deal with the Steam price by the way. $20 US converts to 25ish Canadian.

Normally with a price question like this, we direct you to staff via a support ticket. As like most internet support forums, we rarely see staff here and most of the time, it's mostly customer helping customer.

I'm really not sure what they're going to tell you about it. Looking at the current exchange rate, it's Steam's pricing that is incorrect.

GOG updates their currency exchange rates far more frequently than Steam, so it may have to do with that.
I mean it's also easier on Steam for developers. a while back Valve added some stuff to Steam to allow developers to set their own sales whenever they liked, sidestepping the usual collaborative process.

could be the publisher probably heard about the sale and just wanted to get in on it and so had someone make the changes. I'm not certain gog had a ton of planning going into this sale. I think Valve has paying some attention to people working things around them. could also be the skeleton crew left at Runic were the pointmen on doing it. Runic always had a pretty near relationship with Steam.

even if gog had this sale planned well in advance, like I said, it's quicker on developers and publishers to do this stuff since Steam rolled out those changes. on here, the publisher would have had to go through the process with gog, and maybe they're not putting all so much in the way of resources behind the titles of their closed studios now.
