"It's Friday; you ain't got no Gods of War... and you ain't got nothing to do..."

Man, part of me was hoping to jump onto the GOG website, and BOOM! See an ad for Gods of War! No such luck... Guess I have to try and find something else to do with the rest of the boring day...

I'd love for that to happen. I wouldn't buy it, as I already got it for PS4, but it would still be good to see that my worries about GOG's lack of good releases were wrong. But no... it's porn, porn, more porn and an overpriced bundle of Disney classics that forces you to buy them all even if you only want one.
Won't show up on GoG as long as it's making money elsewhere.

I wouldn't expect it for a looong time. We still haven't gotten Days Gone yet, and in general GOG doesn't get "AAA" games here until they're old or as Swedrami said (and even then some 10+ year old games on Steam haven't shown up yet)

But there are plenty of other games on GOG.

Was there really anybody that expected it to arrive here on day one ?

We got Horizon months later and we are still waiting on Days Gone despite it having been officially announced on Gog.
Well, just about to make a thread about "Will Gods of War Ever Comes to GOG?". But I held back. Don't think it will. At least not so soon. Few years in the future, maybe. Glad to be wrong, though..

I don't think the bold part is true. AFAIK, we never got any confirmation from GOG or Sony that the game would be released here.

What we got was an article saying that the game would arrive on GOG: https://www.theouterhaven.net/2021/05/days-gone-pc-port-early-impressions/
And if you go to the description of the video that's there, it says that it'll come to GOG at a later date.

This is no official confirmation. Might be an error on the writer's part, or the game is still schedule to come here, who knows!

that aint happening.....
I know Horizon came here but Days Gone has not. Maybe Sony wasn't satisfied with how Horizon went, or maybe the developer matters. Who knows. In any case, I wouldn't bet on this one coming here for a good while.

Well if I recall right Days gone had very poor sales on PlayStation and PC when game sales matter to count for companies when putting a game on pc atleast that is from what I recall Sony saying .. So that likely has a part in deciding if a drm-free version is worth making while still recent enough for sales that aren't drm-free.. Granted DRMed game I and many other would sooner pirate (though for me I actually don't pirated media that is still easy to get and work on my devices as I would rather not go to the extra effort so I just don't get em )

Days Gone is already DRM-free on Epic so the devs don’t need to do anything new if they were to release it on GOG DRM-free.

Unless we see Days released, I dont think we are seeing a God of War release in our near future although God is working on a sequel while Days is dead so maybe God could be released here in a couple of years to promote Ragnarok’s PC release. I dont thin God is DRM-free though so if Days hasnt been released, could just be Sony not wanting to release their exclusives on GOG.

That's the dumbest thing being spread around by Sony.

About 1 year ago, Days gone had sold 8 million copies on PS. Plus the copies sold since, plus 1 million on PC.
For comparison Ghost of Tsushima has just passed 8 million copies.

I have no idea what Sony was hopping to get from this game, but it was clearly ludicrous.

The game's Creative Director claims Days Gone sold around the same numbers as Ghost of Tsushima (approx. 7 - 9m across all platforms). Last week he tweeted a snarky tweet where he claimed this and then said that Sony always made Bend Studios feel that Days Gone was a disappointment when fact was it did similarly in sales to GoT. IMHO the whole situation feels similar to Microsoft and Human Head on Prey 2... Sony downplayed Days Gone's financial success in order to get Bend Studio back to Syphon Filter. Probably due to the initial mediocre reviews.

I believe there was a claim that Days Gone sold over 1m on PC.

As for future Sony games on GOG...

... I have a bad feeling that Sony tested the waters with Horizon to see what kind of sales could be achieved... and now they're done. Hope I'm wrong.

As for God of War...

... I played the game on PS4 but would certainly purchase it here as well. One of the best games I've played.

That implies Sony has a unified PC strategy, which outside of 'release on Steam', they don't seem to, at least in any public facing way. I would love GoW here, but I wouldn't hold my breath on Sony doing so soon.
