darthspudius: You definitely missed the point of the game I think. :P

rtcvb32: Well i haven't played it, but the high action floaty controls and fast movement of the ships to give it a faster pace... I don't know.

In other games like SPAZ i know the larger the ship the more mass it has, especially when hauling a load, and that affects it's turning and momentum. Black flag seemed to ignore those rules. Maybe it was for the best, but it's something i probably can't look past. A younger me could look past it, but not as i am right now.
It depends on the situation your boat is in I find. It's not very realistic but it does get a bit heavy to steer. It's easily the most fun in the game, it's not meant to be realistic after all.

Makes me wonder what the game actually was going to be before they shoved the AC title onto it...

Yeah I had that suspicion as well. It is about time we get that kind of game out there. Something different.
Thanks for sharing this! Frankly, I'm kind of shocked that there's a chance at all and the answer wasn't a flat-out "no". I've always thought it would take a miracle to have any Uplay or Origin games on GOG, and it probably still would. As for any issues with the online features using Uplay, that could be kind of tricky. They would need to do one of three things, from what I can think of:

A. Sell the game entirely without online features, as has been done with some games in the past. In this case, content normally unlocked with Uplay points should be unlocked from the start in the GOG version. As long as this is clearly mentioned on the store page, I think this would be acceptable, though definitely not ideal for us. It would probably be the easiest option for Ubisoft.

B. Sell the game and include Uplay keys for the online features, possibly still having all of the Uplay points content unlocked from the start in the GOG version. Since Uplay keys normally grant full game access to the Uplay account they're used on, this would be tricky. Linking GOG and Uplay accounts isn't a good option given the massive controversy it would stir up, so extra work would probably be needed. The keys would likely need to somehow grant access to the games' Uplay features without actually adding full game access to the Uplay account. This would also be acceptable, but not really ideal for anyone. A compromise of sorts.

C. Sell the game and somehow make all of the online features work with GOG Galaxy. Like with option A, content normally unlocked with Uplay points should be unlocked from the start in the GOG version. This would be ideal for GOG users, but probably the most difficult option for Ubisoft. It would probably be the least likely to happen, given all of the extra work that would likely be required and the fact that even on Steam Ubisoft requires Uplay for its games.

Those are the only three ways I can really see them doing this, if they were to do it at all. I would be more than happy to see Ubisoft put their newer games on here DRM-free, but just like games that use Origin or anything Valve owns, it would probably take a miracle. Here's hoping!

There's tons of cases where a game was being made and they didn't think it would sell well, so they slap a known franchise name on it and people recognize the name. Final Fantasy, Lunar, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Brothers, etc.. (those are the ones off the top of my head). Maybe putting a familiar name on it does help it sell, but it seems like a lousy idea as it destroys probably what it could have been had it been left alone.

This is probably what they would do yes. As it's basically what they do with these games on the consoles where uPlay is totally optional, as is even being connected to the internet at all. A person that doesn't care about the MP (which doesn't use uPlay on console) or the uPlay extras (which are just cosmetic or time saver stuff usually anyway) simply ignores uPlay. On PC uPlay is used more as DRM though, but removing it would not be as hard as some people seem to suggest...i mean if the hackers on TPB can crack them and remove the need for uPlay, then the people that made the game can do it. Basically what i'm saying is that if Ubisoft are happy to bring these games here DRM free then the fact they have uPlay at the moment is completely irrelevant, it's not what's stopping the show from happening.

And also, on a different topic, why do people hate Unity so much? Has anyone even really played it? I put 85 hours into it and didn't have a single glitch or problem, not even with 2 days of co-op with total strangers. It's got the most amazing world ever with 100's of people on screen at once. And you can die...guards even hit from from behind and don't just wait their turn. It's the best AC since AC2.

Had it been a more interesting anti-hero would of saved it period. Like the bad guy from AC3. He was a great character and was a lot more likeable than Conner, was it?

I hate to say, i'm bad with names, and conner doesn't ring a bell. Then again i haven't touched the series since... 2012? I'm playing through Ar Tonelico again and i completely forgot almost everything in that game, which i played more recently than any of the AC games so...

Should get that checked out I think :P

Could be mild brain damage from chemicals... Or more likely i'm so under the bar emotionally that everything's a blur...
whole thread -1000 points. it gave me key-cancer.

cogadh: I don't get the dislike for AC 3, it was one of my favorites in the series (even more than the Ezio trilogy).
Post may contain spoilers

My beef with AC3 is Connor. While I did like the setting and the mechanics quite a bit (spent quite some time bear hunting), the main character is like a spoiled child. While Ezio understood why he has to do something he disagrees with, Connor acted like a hothead, acting without thinking of the consequences. He rarely (if ever) accepted advice, and he always thought he knew better.
It has been too long since I played AC2, but I don't recall Ezio acting that way. And while Altair in AC1 may have started that way (in the prologue), he did learn humility soon enough.
Well, this is an encouraging answer, good to have it!
After the last Ubi-Rereleases it could even be quite likely to actually happen!
Great to hear! I've been looking forward to this.
