Not sure if it would also get into your list or not, but you might also get into the original Final Fantasy for the NES, along with later re-releases on the PS1, Gameboy Advance, PSP and mobile. You can create your whole party with four party members utilizing any of the six available classes in any combination possible and with four unique names.

Yeah I heard of that. Someone told me you get to do that in FFtsy 3 as well. Is that true? Im just trying to find as many as possible as they rock.

If I remember correctly, you create your whole party in Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land for PlayStation 2.

dark lord's an nes game, and the later game in the series Dark Law is a snes game. They're japaese only but there's a translation patch if you emulate.

In Makai Kingdom, the main character is trapped in a book and can't move or act on his own (you can't even control him in the base/hub between maps), so he's pretty much just a base panel you have to summon units/buildings/vehicles from to protect him from enemy attacks. The other story characters don't do anything in battles either and the army's generic units/recruits which is why I thought of it and not Disgaea et al where you have a bunch of story characters even though you don't have to use them ...well now that I think of it the other story characters are playable characters too, but only in the postgame if you beat them but you might not count it.

(and yes it's for the ps2) tc already mentioned it; I think you had to have the mc in the party though which is probably why it didn't count.

There's Blaze & Blade for the PS1, but it has a strong focus on multiplayer if I remember correctly.

Yeah, you can create your own party also with their unique names and keep changing their classes whenever you want in FF3 NES. In FF3 DS (as well as FF5 all versions), the characters are named and come with personalities and they all look unique, but the class-changing based gameplay is still there allowing for a pseudo "create your party" gameplay combined with a story. However, if you're looking to play FF3 DS because of the class-changing (called the jobs system), you're better off playing FF5 instead, with a better story and the jobs system as well as an overall easier game.

I know that some of the Dragon Quest games (at least three and nine from what I can remember on the spot) allowed you to create your own party at the begining of the game.
Then there's Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Advance. You don't create your whole party from scratch, but you have so much customization available to you so that it's basically the same thing.

While we are at playstation are there any games on Ps3 that allow that? I heard there was Wizardry something on there and I dont know what class of heroes is but I heard might be like Etrian Odyssey.

Has anyone played any of them.
