So does anybody know?

Is there a limit to how many times you can download a particular game on the Steam and Origin client?

Edit:

Thank you everyone :)

Don't know about Origin (never used it), but Steam itself has no limits. There may be third party DRM that limits the number of times you can activate/install a game, but AFAIK, Steam won't do that on its own.

No idea about Origin, but on Steam only a handful of games should have limited activations (particularly those from Topware).
No, at least not usually. Occasionally, a game might have third-party DRM that does that (allegedly, Arkham City had an activation limit, and I think Two Worlds II, although I never verified any of that), but I feel like that brand of DRM is going out of favor.

That is correct. Steam has no limit, neither has Origin itself. On both platforms certain games may have additional DRM with an activation limit but to my best knowledge no games on Origin have an absolute limit, for instance Battlefield Hardline resets the limit very quickly (on a daily basis or something). Some games on Steam, however, may have a limit that does not get reset.

"only a handful", well, that's a quite large hand you're refering to. Although clearly not the majority of Steam games, the list includes quite a number of potentially popular titles. The prevalence of that devious form of DRM is not just a marginal thing, it's something you easily come accross. As far as I am concerned that has meant, over time, not buying quite a number of games I'd otherwise have bought.

Not all the games in the list contain games with limited activations. It's just that all (almost) games with limited activations can be found in that list. Also, considering how many games does Steam have, yes, I would say that only a handful have limited activations.
