toxicTom: Sad thing is, you were right.
Those shows are organized/run/rigged by the same companies that own/publish the music/the musicians/movies/actors. They're just big self-stroke-off shows, it's a huge joke as far as actually meaning anything real.

Giving an award to any art form is a joke unless it's lifetime achievement or something. I have my taste and you have yours and we don't a stupid statue to determine who has better taste.

Calling most of that stuff that wins awards "art" is a joke, too. Though they did get something close to right (I didn't see everything to know for sure) with Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyers Club - WOW!
