The title states "discussion" - so not limited to bug reports, right?

I once wished the downloader would save it's window size and position and told GOG about my wish. Today I bought some of the packs and...

Regarding version 3.3.5.0 on Win7

It just started with the last window size and position! Wow! That's a great xmas gift - thank you GOG! :-)
Wait... removing things from the downloader "All downloaded files will be removed".

Why would you do this!? It used to specify that files would remain and that was a good thing. If you want to delete them, you can delete them afterwards. How can you remove things without deleting now? Argh.

bevinator: Removing the game manually will also remove all of the files with it, even if the download is already completed! This is exactly the opposite of the old downloader and I consider it to be a significant step backwards.
Glad someone else noticed. Stop making the downloader worse GOG!

GOG DLer version: 3.3.5.0
OS: Windows 8 (64-bit)
Language: English

So, I've been using the GOG downloader but I've encountered the same problem SEVERAL times already and it's really starting to tick me off.

The problem: I download a game installer. 50% of the time, GOG Downloader will download all the way to the end and the line will change color and say 'Completed', but the other 50% of the time, it will just stay stuck at the incomplete status even though it obviously downloaded all the necessary files (the progress bar will say, e.g. - 500mb of 500mb). The color of the status bar won't change, and it won't start downloading the next item queue'd.

For files that say Completed, I can remove them from the Downloader queue and the files will remain on my PC. But for files that stay frozen at the end, if I try to remove them, the Downloader says it will delete all progress for that file.

So, why does it keep getting stuck at the very end!?!?!?

Finally....when I go to support and read about the GOG Downloader, the site says to click on a link if I have problems with the Downloader. Click on it, and it takes me to a download page for the Downloader and the only info given is about how convenient the Downloader is. Uhh...thanks for the help (sarcasm).

EDIT: I can download extras, even large 1GB+ files, with no problem...it's just the actual game installers that won't download properly.

Oh yeah, also I did want to mention that I absolutely love this site. It's my favorite place to get PC games, so please don't take my frustration over the Downloader as a bash against the site as a whole. :)

Hello. I'm on Windows 7, using the downloader version 3.3.5.0.

I'm having the exact same problem as kimyeongtae and Yuuki_Kun. The downloader shows the blue line filled in all the way and says I have downloaded 106/106 MB, but it never finishes (left it on for four hours). When I try to use the installer, it says that the files are still in use. When I try to get the downloader to stop downloading, it only gives me the option to erase the whole thing.

The problem seems only to affect the game installers. I have downloaded the bonus files without a problem. Any help would be appreciated.
The problem with stucking downloads on 99% will be fixed in the new version of downloader. Could you guys post your log file (or paste it on pastebin-like service), and additionally post what net connection do you have?
Good day!) Might I ask you, if this is the right place, to add a feature to pause downloads you want in order to change the order in which they will be downloaded? It would also be nice to allow parallel downloads for small games. :)
Hello! I hope I'm posting this in the right place, never posted on these forums before beacuse I haven't need to until now.

Okay, so I added the witcher 2 to my games list yesterday and tried to download it with the gog downloader. I chose to use the downloader because right on this page (http://www.gog.com/support/website_help/downloads_and_games) it says

"6. What is the GOG.com Downloader?
Because some of our games are really huge (we're talking gigabytes here!), downloading them through a web browser via HTTP isn't the most convenient way - there's always a risk that something will interrupt your transfer or that you might want to pause the downloads and shut down your computer."

I paused the download and shut down my computer, turned it back on this morning and the entire download restarted from scratch... Needless to say I was disappointed, but it wasn't too much lost so I just went with it, then the power went out about 30 minutes after that, once again nothing was saved.

What am I doing wrong that the download wont save and resume? If I'm reading the webpage right it should , but it isn't. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

The download should have resume capabilities, though when the downloader restarts, it should be checking what files have already been downloaded. Unfortunately, the visual representation of that is a blue line with the text "Downloading" that appears as if it's downloading from scratch instead of checking, though it should increase way faster than the download speed one would expect.
There is no resume support for mac installers and bonus as I recall though :(

Its, sadly, going same speed as before. :/ I'm on windows 7, if it helps.

Worst case scenario I just wont turn my computer off until its done, thats not too bad.

EDIT: Okay I found it is saving my downloads, but its not like registering that is is or something. I found where the file is saved, but the downloader wont recognize it, or at least doesn't seem to. Once It gets more downloded that it already had the file says it gets bigger, I can't tell if its juts checking it as slowly as my download speed or if its just really downloading it all from scratch.

Windows 7 .No logs .
When i was downloading Grimrock it's web crashed then i closed it .
Restarted my PC .
Tried to open , and it crashed .
Uninstalled it and installed again .
Still crashes, and the games still appear , back on the crashed software .
To simplify, i want a way to UNINSTALL THE PROGRAM 100% (cancelling the downloads)so i can install it again and run it correctly .
Sorry for the caps lock.

Deagle275: (cancelling the downloads)so i can install it again and run it correctly .
In the address bar, type %localappdata% and press enter. It should navigate to the c:\users\{username}\AppData\Local folder, which is a hidden one. There should be a GOG.com folder there, delete all of its contents. That should clear the downloader's queue, thus it will no longer try to download Legend of Grimrock automatically. Your log file should also be there, I'd suggest deleting it, and if you have problems again, pasting the new one somewhere.
Thank you

Thank you very much for this JMich! Much appreciated.
I'm using 3.3.5.0 and I just downloaded The Witcher 2. I went to start another download and as it was staring I right-clicked and chose "Remove from list" to clear out The Witcher 2's finished downloads and some time after doing so I opened the folder that it downloaded to only to see that while the bonus content was still there the installer files for the game were gone. I don't know if this is a bug or if that message that popped up warned me that this would happen but I would assume that if the download is done that clearing the game from the list wouldn't delete the files. I'm now having to start the download all over again to get the installer files back. Hopefully this time they won't disappear again but this might be something that needs to be fixed if this is indeed a bug in the downloader.

[EDIT]
Ok so now I read the pop up message about all the downloads being deleted so I know longer thing this is a bug but it's still an issue with me the fact that the downloader would be deleting files of it's own accord that are completely finished downloading. I can understand if the download wasn't finished but why does the downloader need to delete finished downloads if you remove a single game from the download list? The only reason I have to remove a game from the list is to free it up so I can see the progress of games that are still downloading. If I need to delete the game files I can do that simply by browsing to the folder and deleting the files. If you are insistent on having the download do this an options to choose whether or not it deletes the files would be preferable over the "if you really want to remove this then we are going to delete your files whether you want us to or not" approach. An option like that would have saved me another 3 to 4 hours on this second download (as well as the added strain on both my internet and your servers) all because I misinterpreted a pop up message.

I tried using the Downloader today (Windows 7, 3.3.5). I hibernated the computer while the downloader was paused. Upon resuming the download, it got to the end of the file and just kept downloading and downloading. Finally I paused it again for a couple minutes. When I resumed it again, it immediately started the next file. Well, of course the file it had been stuck on was corrupted and useless. I wound up scrapping the whole folder, uninstalling GOG Downloader and manually downloading from scratch.

I won't be trying the Downloader again any time soon.
