UPDATE: Last chance to grab your games from the original list! Make sure to get them until June 8, 12:59 PM UTC.

Want more games? We've got more games! Three new titles are now available through GOG Connect:

- Kona
- Defender's Quest
- Door Kickers

You can get them until June 13, 1:59 PM UTC.

Today, we're launching a new program called GOG Connect. The premise is simple: connect your Steam account and add your eligible games to your GOG.com library.

Whether you're checking us out for the first time or have been with us for a while, GOG Connect gets you DRM-free versions of your games, digital extras, and a whole lot of freedom of choice (like whether you go with the GOG Galaxy client or not). It gets you our take on game ownership, and we say: why buy the games more than once?

Thanks to our awesome partners including Deep Silver, Harebrained Schemes, Jonathan Blow's Number None, TaleWorlds and more, you can now add more than 20 games to your GOG.com library if you previously purchased them on Steam.

The full list of games will always be available on connect.gog.com, starting with these and more:

- The Witness
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
- Galactic Civilizations 3
- Trine Enchanted Edition
- Saints Row 2
- Shadowrun Returns
- The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

For a bit more library-building, a bunch of our favorite titles will also be discounted up to -85% all week long, including The Witness, Saints Row: The Third, System Shock 2 and more. You can check out all the deals here. The sale will last until June 6, 12:59 PM UTC.
Yeah, doesn't seem to work. Maybe ~3000 games is too much? Says No eligible games or just generic error.

Pheace: 1) Because that's how it's always worked as far as I know. Using the Steam login thing does not allow that service to bypass your privacy settings. If you're not public it won't show your stuff.
Nope, that's wrong. Privacy settings don't matter when connecting your Steam account somewhere. I've got my Steam account connected to the Paradox Interactive forums, and they're able to tell which games I own without having to set my account to public. If GOG actually requires the account to be set to public, then that's an issue with how GOG set up the connection.
I admit I don't understand this.

So I can buy games on Steam for eight cents and then redeem them on GOG? For no revenue to GOG? I get the game has to be on GOG to begin with - and part of this program - but every week there are games on Humble promos at three-for-a-dollar for steam keys. I can use a steam account, redeem those keys, and then port them to DRM-free versions on GOG?

The redeemable games changes and are limited in time but it looks like it's that.

It's a way to feed gog libraries, with bigger libraries, people are more prone to buy here.

Also: not working for me either. :P

Also, choose YOUR ACCOUNT well: once the steam account is linked, you can't change it.

This is gogs notificiation email about these issues:

Hello,

We apologize if you're experiencing issues regarding GOG Connect. This is a newly-implemented feature, and we are currently working on fixing some issues:

1) Not all Steam games are recognized - please try conencting your Steam account again. If this doesn't work, please try again later.

2) Connecting accounts failed ("oops, something went wrong" - please try again later, as the server load might be too big currently.

3) The wrong language is displayed - we are working on this and will resolve the problem ASAP.

For any other issues, we still would suggest trying again on Friday.

If this did not help, or you have a different issue that wasn't listed above, please reply to this email and let us know.

Kind regards,
GOG.com Support

This is interesting, but I have to wonder if this will help GOG sales or hinder them. On the one hand, it could get more people to try out GOG and maybe make the switch from Steam to here.

On the other hand, tons of games that can be bought here are available on Steam as well, and from Humble, which provides Steam keys. Obviously it's up to the developers and publishers to use GOG Connect or not, but a lot of people might stop rebuying games here and just wait for them to show up on GOG Connect. That could really hurt sales for long-awaited games like Oblivion, Skyrim, or really anything that has already been available from Steam or Humble. Had this been available when Braid released here, I doubt it would have sold anywhere near as well as it did. If it starts to hurt sales, then releasing certain games here (like Braid) might not seem worth it anymore to GOG and/or the developers and publishers.

Hopefully GOG knows what they're doing with this, but I'm concerned that GOG Connect will do a lot more harm than good.

Yes, that is exactly why I am thinking that GOG may be a bit tooo friendly here. Luckily (for GOG) this only concens a limited number of games. But still - now you can use humble, indiegala, sales on steam ect. just to get games FOR FREE on GOG. Hard to believe but that is how this should work (IF it will work at any time).
So the accounts connected for me, but after the "PROCESSING YOUR REQUEST..." prompt i get a lot of nothing and then "WE COULDN'T REACH THE STEAM SERVICE RIGHT NOW. Please try again later". I assume that it's due to heavy load? I set my Steam account to public (at least the options I could find).
Progress at last! Well sort of, it found my games, but now it just needs to stop "OOPSing" :-)
