Planet Nomads, a sci-fi sandbox where you must build yourself a life atop an unexplored planet, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% launch discount.

Armed only with your handy multitool and your protective spacesuit, you set out to brave a beautiful, hostile environment rife with possibility. The core survival/exploration/building mechanics are already in place, but the developers wish to keep expanding upon them, with flying machines, improved creature AI, a larger selection of building blocks, and plenty more biomes to come.

The 10% discount will last until June 1st, 2PM UTC.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

robertgg: Another Paid Beta/Early Access pos.
Shame on GOG for allowing such crap here.
Those who want to can buy it , test it & tell the rest of us their thoughts, what's the problem - it's looking good (Nothing like NMS) .

Personally, I think it's a good idea for developers to release 'early access' versions of their games so the community can tell them how to improve it, making them end game better. Though it should have a higher discount , 10% isn't much of a reduction (Especially as this lasts only the first couple of days & not the entire beta period).
Bought. Gotta support this. GOG needs more games like Subnautica/DayZ-Epoch/...
Hope it turns out well.
Looks good, maybe later when it's not In-Dev....
Usually I'm not really into this kind of game, yet Planet Nomads somehow immediately caught my interest. I'm very curious to see what the "early access/in dev" people will have to say, and it will be a very likely purchase when it is complete. Best of luck to the developers!

Smannesman: I'm interested in the multiplayer component.
I hope it's not locked to their servers.

Also Subnautica doesn't have multiplayer, so I'd certainly hope it works well as a singleplayer game.
Currently Planet Nomads is single player only. Multiplayer is planned but like any EA/In-Dev title, there are no guarantees.

What do you plan to change during development?

A lot! We're at the very beginning of this journey. The game already offers a solid gameplay for several hours minimum (tens of hours if you are into the sandbox genre and hundreds if you are really passionate about creating things), but we aim higher than that.
We'll want to expand modding, introduce flyers and space flight, orbital building, and eventually consider multiplayer with different modes, make the weather more realistic and tied to survival, develop volumetric water, introduce more environment hazards, more creatures and more building options.

Oh people mentioned so many multiplayer games I just assumed.

No problem. To be fair, most survival sandbox games implement multiplayer sooner or later.

cstuckma: Nomad's Sky?
We have a winner, ladies and gentlemen!
Well, at least this time it's not pretending to be a full 1.0 release.
I wishlisted this from way back when. To me this appears to be "No Man's Land" A No Man's Sky except for exploring different environments on one planet instead of exploring different planets which contain only one environment. That, or a kind of "Minecraft 2". Even better, it's an all-platform release (unlike NMS).

I would pick it up now, but my current budget won't allow it so I'll have to wait until mid-June. If the main exploration, crafting and combat mechanics are in place then I can see this as a worthy purchase even at regular price.

Looks fantastic. Wishlisted for now. I'm just scared I'll get burned like with NMS. Thumbs up to the dev, this really just looks utterly fantastic thus far.

The idea of paying developers to do QA for them, instead of the other way around, doesn't sit too well with some people. I can't say I disagree with them.
Linux support is very welcome. I'm going to buy this (unlike No Man's Sky).

Niggles: Im curious about games like this....although there seems to be more than a few with similar gameplay?.

Ricky_Bobby: Some are more action-oriented, like Ark, Conan and The Forrest, which seem to consist of equal parts combat and equal parts crafting. Most of these are more or less aimed at multiplayer gaming.

Then there's more exploring and crafting oriented games, like Stranded Deep and Subnautica. The Long Dark would probably also fit into this group. These work really well as single-player games in my experience.
cheers thanks for the info.I prefer the latter :).. Exploring exploring!! :D
