In case you hadn't noticed, Superfrog and Superfrog HD are gone from GOG.
Every time a game disappears. I guess I won't get the chance to play the original now...

Edit: Wasn't it available from Humble too? It doesn't show up there either.

For how long have they been gone, more or less?

Are there any precedents of other games disappearing for good without GOG saying anything? And of the opposite (games disappearing for a while before re-appearing later as if nothing had happened)?
Not the first time a game disappeared without warning (Cryostasis).

Still, kind of sucks. =/

Yes to both. Sometimes licenses change hands without prior notice or a new legal situation arises. GoG then has to negotiate with the new rightsholders before releasing the games again.

Yep, I'm aware of that. But I thought in such cases GOG explained the situation, and sometimes they even put the soon-to-go games on sale (like with the Duke Nukem games earlier this year).

But according to Grargar that has not been always the case... :\
I don't own either of those games, but what happens in this situation? Do the people who bought those games still have access to download them? Or do they lose access once GoG loses the rights?

The best part is that the games aren't removed from Steam, which indicates that the publisher( and the developer even) maybe changed their minds about DRM-free..... or maybe a licence expired(which is very unlikely since the game doesn't contain anything licenced as far as i know). The only solution is to actually buy the games before they get removed, and that is really tricky :) (oh XIII how i miss you :D). Cheers.
I just checked the psn, it looks like the ps3/vita version of superfrog hd is still there for now.

Good to know. I've tried to make a habit of downloading games as I buy them even if won't have a chance to play them anytime soon, but I've fallen behind and have a number of them I haven't quite gotten around to downloading yet.

Doubtful. If that was the case, then Team 17 (who is both the developer and publisher of the games) would have removed the rest of their catalog from here as well. A game isn't necessarily removed at the same time from all stores. Give it a week or two and it will probably be removed from Steam, as well.

It's possible that Team 17 might not own the original game's music but might have only licensed it. If that's the case and their license expired, then it explains why both games had to be removed, as the HD version also contains the music from the original game.

Grargar:
To be fair the opposite has happened.
The Void was removed from Steam quite a while ago and it's still here on GOG. *knock on wood*

Yes, i think you hit the spot there. Didn't actually know that the in-game music is licenced, but explains really well why this is happening.I thankfully bought the original game and not the HD version(which ain't that good) but this are sad times we live in now, where everything has an expire date and for some stupid reason its kept a secret, and the customer is always on the recieving end. Cheers
