I just skimmed the forums now and there are a couple of threads talking about a Linko imposter and the original Linko being fired? I didn't see anything goimg into much detail though or pointing to a catalyst
He just married and is on honeymoon vacation.

He chose to use wrong hashtag in one of his tweets and the self-appointed moral guardians of fairness, equality and social justice were like "Oh no, you di'int! Off with his head!".

We haven't heard from him since. I hope he's doing ok, considering people doxxed him and try to get him fired.

I just saw the tweet... doesn't seem like something to doxx someone over? Moral gaurdians might be playing a bit fast and loose with the "moral" aspect if that's the case
Our "nice and friendly" gog-forum just wore another moderator out...

After reading a recent article, it was clear that GOG has already apologised regarding the post as well as mentioning that the use of the #WontBeErased hashtag was actually meant to be a pun. In my opinion, I think it was just an overreaction coming from the transpeople movement side towards the way the hashtag they created was being inappropriately used out of context. More like resorting to a defensive mechanism where every time something related to them gets mentioned in a way that doesn't sound good in their ears (even if the statement is nowhere being offensive), it will be seen as an attempt to make fun of them, even if the message was actually directed to a completely different followers base.

Honestly, it was clear that the tweet did offend no one (at least for me) . The hashtag was used on a whole different context. Not being used to support transgender rights, nor used to support the side that the whole campaign is currently trying to fight. I mean look at this tweet that GOG posted:"Classic PC games #WontBeErased on our watch. Yeah, how's that for some use of hashtags?" It clearly doesn't sound offensive to me whatsoever.

Lastly, I believe that everyone has a different standard that helps them indicate whether something is offensive or not. I just think that the controversial tweet that GOG posted should at least be located at the lowest level on all of those standards or everyone's standards.

Guys, don't roast me please lol.

Social media apparently killed him, much like social media is killing everything else, polarising society, profiteering on the data.

Really? In that case: good for him! Or was that just a guess.

My guess, so far, was that he either had a nervous breakdown and is in a sanitarium somewhere. Or that he just quit, like his predecessors. Which would be earlier than I expected. I kind of expected that he would endure until next year. If he really has quit now, before the end of 2018, I have just lost a bet. :-)

I'm still wondering whether the position as community manager is some kind of proving-ground for new members, or a punishment for something.
sigh, I was confuzzled

Twitter IS a mistake, in itself. Nothing good can ever come out of that cesspit.

But if we could confine to twitter all the overreacting people, what a relief it would be...

Just a guess :)
As there are no moderators around to prevent fake news from spreading let's make up positive ones at least.

Good. I like your mindset.

Linko did good work here and GOG should support him, anyone who threatens to have someone fired over how they perceive a tweet is not worth listening to and it's even worse when they claim to know the motive like they are mindreaders.

I have said it before and will say it again but the only response GOG should give them is: Fuck off.

I can understand being offended as it could be seen as denigrating to a cause/movement that is important to people. But I was also under the impression that it was removed within 10 minutes? So it seems like a lot of misdirected energy if they legitimately want to bring about change. Berating a well-liked consumer friendly company doesn't seem to be a good way to attract positive attention

Some people just want to be offended, they are addicted to it, it's their purpose in life to be offended.
Happens all over the place, either you "invade my safe space" or you "destroy my free speech". Seems like people are more and more unable to actually communicate, have a conversation, listen to each other. It's all just screaming competitions and who's the most oppressed victim.

Everybody seems to have their senses sharpened to detect malintent in other people's ways and words... It's kind of sad since this is the best way to make yourself paranoid and unhappy.
