Ha, after seeing the title I was expecting something entirely different...

Way to colourful and platformery for my taste, but hey, to each his own :)
Seems like they are easily going to make their goal as well...
Funded!!!
now for real i only hope iga brings back michiru yamane to do the soundtrack

According to Wikipedia the last thing that she did for videogame soundtrack was a wii game. this is all konami´s fault
Judging by the KS page, the PC version will be Steam-only. :-(

I'm very interested in the game.
The conceptual visual presentation has a look that seems to cross Igarashi's Castlevanias with Vanillaware's games.

voted !! probably iga never heard about GOG, we need to change that, let´s spam

now that i have the time to read it and watch the video, michiru yamane is in the project and also inti creates. so that is so reassuring.

IGA is good in what it does but inti creates is very good with 2D action games

Outside of two games, Castlevania's backbone has always been Nintendo, so naturally this Kickstarter doesn't support said systems even as stretch goals.

Shame on you Igarashi.

To be fair, he stated why there was no Nintendo. PC/360/PS4 are all similar to program for, but the Wii U is not based on PC architecture and would require a lot more work to port. People would also expect support for the Wii U controller, which would add even more time/effort to it. His choice is based on practicality, not animosity. I don't have a Wii U, but hopefully he will add Wii U now that they are doing so well.

This "it's hard to program for" is an excuse, and a number of talented devs like Shin'en and Frozenbyte call out devs on it. The Wii U is actually really easy to program for, and quite simple to port PC code over to (Did you know, on a whim Crytek changed a few lines of code and shoved Crysis 3 onto Wii U and the damn thing ran really well? Naturally EA said no anyway because spite) and Castlevania games have a history of selling well on Nintendo platforms. It feels dismissive to not include the platform where the series earned most of it's legacy.

I'm so excited :)

This game is going to be awesome and more.
Saw this earlier today, not a word regarding DRM-Free.

It's not hard to program for in the difficult sense. I'm sure the the Wii U is easy to program for. It's just extremely easy to port via the same architecture and those other systems are near-guaranteed to have good sales. I love the Wii U, but even I have to wonder if it will be around in a meaningful way in 2017, given the state of things. I'm sure that they would love to have it on a Nintendo platform, but what he said does make a level of sense. Now that they have such amazing funding, however. I certainly feel that they should do a Nintendo version.

P.S. - Could you link that article about Crysis 3 and the Wii U? That sounds interesting and I would love to read it. :)
New Castlevania-esque platformer? Sign me up!

I'll see if i can dig it up, but the site I got the story from had a catastrophic server failure and lost a lot of data. Though honestly Crytek didn't say much other than "we threw part of Crysis 3 onto the system and it ran extremely well", I believe they said 30+ fps at 720p with PC Ultra level lighting, and that it could have hit 1080p if they could disable the gamepad usage on the devkit.
