Breja: Oh please. It's Disney. They are so hilariously clueless as to what to do with Star Wars, they're more likely to give the license to someone who'll make the "remaster" into a match 3 mobile game.

idbeholdME: Someone finally said it!!

I gave them a chance but after seeing the daylight butchery they made of the movies, I'm boycotting anything related to the new Disney Wars.
It's not just the movies - honestly right now the movies are 50/50 for me. I really like Rogue One and thought Solo was at least ok. It's all the other stuff. The way they seem intent on intentionally antagonising the fanbase, the way the completely mismanaged Solo, turning it into a flop (releasing it less than 6 months after Last Jedi, right before Infinity War and with almost no marketing), leading to cancelling all the other spin-off movies (including the James Mangold Boba Fett flick, and the Obi-Wan film, aka the stuff I actually wanted to see). The fact they shut down Lucasarts, and the only two games we got in SIX YEARS are Battlefront.

And finally, for the ultimate move in Disney dickishness, watch this fan film, and then watch this.

Crosmando: Remastered as in just a source port of the original game with modern features like widescreen, fov etc? If so YES
This basically, like they're doing with Blood (in case you missed the news, Atari gave ND permission to remaster that game)

Well, games were dead to me the moment Disney took over. Movies were to be seen and with the second one being the only movie in history that I had to greatly struggle with the urge to leave the cinema, I consider everything Disney non-canon. To me, Kyle Katarn will always be the one who stole the Death Star plans. And calling the main character of Rogue One "Jyn Erso"!!! It couldn't be more obvious!!! (For those who don't know, the name of Kyle's pilot in Dark Forces is Jan Ors)
Yes please, but as others have already said, Disney has been a complete ruin for Star Wars, so I don't know if there's any hope.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Kyle Katarn, and although Rogue One turned out to be the only decent Disney movie, I don't accept this new canon.

Fortunately they gave it back to SWT, he just posted a few hours ago. No more ads :)
Disney, who claimed copyright over a fan film and put ads on it, and also puts out utter shit... you think they would remake a good game?

I doubt it. I think Disney lost it's soul a while ago.
I'd love to see it, but the game wouldn't make ALL THE MONEY, so Disney is not interested. It's either ALL THE MONEY or nothing. God forbid they would make a product that makes a profit, but it doesn't give them ALL THE MONEY. Plus, the game is not canon and Lucasfilm/Disney apparently decided that all products from 2013 onward should be canon (books, comics, tv shows, movies, games).
I wonder if EA, the company that just cancelled a Star Wars game, probably because it was horrifically bad, would get all into a tiff about that. Agh, probably. So you got both Disney and EA, two completely soulless companies, to deal with there.
As long as there's mid-level saves (my biggest gripe with this game), I'm in.

To be honest, I disliked it a lot at first too.

But there are lives in the game AND the level does not reset when you die and still have lives left, making it much more acceptable.

You only really have to do things completely over again when you run out of lives. I had some very adrenaline filled moments in Dark Forces 1 because of that.

I still prefer saves. I like being able to quit a game once I'm tired without losing progress. And if I'm being totally honest, I cheated my way through the final level because of that. It's damn hard, and having to replay the whole thing over and over again eventually wore me down to the point where I just wanted to see the end credits and be done with it. But before that last stage the difficulty level was quite well balanced and I did have a lot of fun.

Don't even remind me of the last level.... I still remember how I finished it literally with 1HP and no lives left. At one point, I was dead for sure and even removed my hands from the keyboard, accepting death. But the Dark Trooper that was bound to kill me in the final boss fight (I was stuck in a little alcove in a wall with no way out) jumped somewhere above me and landed on a platform there. After a few seconds, realizing I was not dead, I continued playing and was somehow able to kill him and complete the level.

He was literally the last enemy remaining in the level and he got the jump on me. Had the Dark Trooper not actually jumped in that critical moment, I was 100% dead.

With manual saves, I definitely would not have this gaming memory for life.

I'm stuck at a level (some kind of glacier) with a lot of instant death pits and the lives system makes it more annoying than anything (especially those jumps).

Extra lives in an FPS only really worked in Wolfenstein 3D (where there was no environmental hazards) and even that's debatable.

Personally reasons like these are why I'm not always against cheating in older games. It's not as satisfying but far less frustrating and I like to actually be able to say I finished a game. https://www.gamespot.com/star-wars-dark-forces/cheats/
It'd be great to get some kind of remaster, but I think EA's got the rights for SW games for some more time and their business practices are... off-putting, to say the least, so they'd either want a hand in this and do something that'd spoil the experience, or not allow someone else to have the game's license at all.
Still, I hope this works!
