011284mm: You would probably find many more people in the future believing in the Bible as religion is still being used by people to control others. Especially in the USA.
Anyone with any smarts is going to have had a 100 year advance so they will have beaten you to it.

McDon: About the bible comment, Do you mean that in the future more people will believe that the bible controls people or that more people will be controlled by the bible?
We have millions upon millions of people across the world who practice religion. Many of those who believe in religion have done so from their youth, or found themselves turning to it after a traumatic experience.
As science and other disciplines progresses and people are handed more answers that can explain the world around them it is still God they turn to in times of trouble.

People look for simple answers to complex problems, because they struggle to understand. With all the troubles we have now and I can only see things getting worse as time progresses. I feel more people might find their lives ruled by religion.
Just look to 1400 Europe, anyone who did not believe in (or in the correct) religion was often murdered as a hieratic. Nothing makes people do what you want then the fear of their own life, or their afterlife.

Plus as I said before, I feel people will as a whole become even more stupid. So religion will have many new footholds as it is a simple enough concept to hold onto. You do this, that and other in my order and in death I will supply you with a utopia (virgins, money, power, friends).
The Matrix... but in Zion with my own Hookup for a Virtual world I control XD
would be my luck to wake up in the aftermath of the supervolcano in yellowstone eruption and trying to survive the near extinction of man.

jjsimp: You forgot the death of Reality TV. Unless we can get a real celebrity deathmatch program without the claymation. The first match I suggest Justin Bieber vs Clay Aiken with the winner having to fight Iron Mike Tyson. Or if I have to keep the singer theme, Danzig or Henry Rollins.
Ha, Stewie is an apt avatar for you.

I agree about reality TV, but I would still prefer interactive, virtual entertainment. I could find many ways to do away with it, such as dropping a few mini nukes launched from a fat boy into a full, virtual concert headlined by both Justin Beiber and Clay Aiken, to take a page out of the new Fallout games. Real people don't have to die in reality just because I don't like them.

As much fun as that would be, I still agree with Robert Nozick that most people would not want to be forever connected to an Experience Machine/simulated reality. For me, there is as much value being able to disconnect when I want to as being able to connect when I want to.
I'd love to wake up in such a future.

PLEASE DON'T UNFREEZE ME

Racialism will probably be gone (it's mostly dead), homophobia and sexism will probably be gone (it's starting to die), culturalism will possibly be gone (we need another century for that), but I don't look forward to see what other criterion our eternal dickheads will be basing their differentialism on.

That being said, maybe a star trek future would be the least detestable to live in. That's probably why I don't like that franchise much. Or maybe I'd tolerate a waterworld one, but that may be the sea-starved me talking, here.

If this is the 5th element, I would like 3 jars of peanut butter, Heather Graham, a blowtorch, and 50 pairs of socks.
