Apparently it was not clear that my saying that the forum is "perfect" was meant to be ironic. It is anything but, hence the need for BE and AF. My point was that I don't trust GOG to change it because I expect what they come up with to be even worse than the current state (see, for example, Chat which replaced PM and is immensely worse IMHO). Still, I shouldn't have adopted a comic tone when there are obviously people suffering from the abuses of the current rep system. My mistake.

It's not great forum software, and I believe created by someone who used to be employed by GOG, it is simplistic enough mostly to serve its purpose, especially if you are not too demanding of it.

Rep as always, is completely pointless and misleading, and would be better replaced by LIKE instead.

I'd love it if we were able to have Conversation PMs, but I really don't want GOG to waste time meddling, and their track record for doing such isn't great.

Emoticons would be great to help avoid some misunderstandings, by giving more dimensions to the tone of a reply or post. As they say, a picture paints a thousand words, and in a forum that serves countries from all over the world, images can be far more easily understood than written language.

Proper quoting and even spoilers are to die for, and inline image posting. Audio and video not so much ... certainly not if autoplay.

New forum software could be fantastic, but GOG have waited far too long. Unless they spend the money to get someone who really knows what they would be doing, a screwup is highly likely. There is heaps to migrate, and it isn't like they would be migrating from a perfect system.

Full use of my screen, so I can enlarge fonts, without enlarging the whole page, which bleeds into any other tabs I open. ATM I have 2 large empty margins.

Slight modifications to a working system > Must Get New for the sake of NEW.
If it ain't broke, don't replace it with some new Win 11 crap nobody will like.
