But what I want to know is the whole concern about the possible game breaking DRM. (Like Rockstar Social Club or something)

I am still of the stance that such DRM will most likely affect the GTA Online portion of the game while the Single Player will be untouched and playable offline. Mostly because the console version can be played completely offline even without an internet connection. Rockstar Social Club will be used just for Online.

Seriously though I just hope its great port because this game is the best GTA yet and it is a much better game than 4. All the missions have variety compared to the usual gun skirmishes of GTA 4. And the humor is back and the story aswell its not that dark and gritty realism of 4.

(But I still liked GTA 4 regardless)

Since when was Social Club game breaking? Last I saw it, It popped up and I closed it. Nothing to mention.
I guess it will be same as their last game on PC Max Payne 3 which can be played offline without any issues. Rockstar Social Club DRM is not a hindrance in that regard.

The game will have "periodic entitlement verification" AND hardware authentication of some sorts. Both of those are individually boycott worthy even more so when combined.

I have a question about the latter thing about hardware.

Say I have a GTX 650 and this game is installed on my computer? The moment I replace my 650 with a 970 DRM will come into effect because I replace the grahpics card with a superior one?

Is that how it works?
Not sure whether to get it directly from steam or through GMG. GMG is heck a lot cheaper than steam. But I think outside retailers will only get the keys on release day.

The game's a ridiculous 65GB, probably compressed to about 40-50GB? Seeing how I need 5 days to download a 15GB game, 65GB's gonna take an eternity. Also I'm not sure I trust downloading stuff through Social Club and although I don't like steam I know I can download games reliably through there at least and mp and coop works wonderfully for steamworks games.

65? Oddly enough the game on a PS3 disc takes about around 8000 MB to install.

But then again this is the "Next Gen" version of GTA 5 so who knows how much they added. (They most likely ported the PS4/XBONE version of GTA 5)

It might work something like that.

Anyway this is the wording from the official system requirements, the bolded bits are what I object to: "Other requirements: Installation and online play requires log-in to Rockstar Games Social Club (13+) network; internet connection required for activation, online play, and periodic entitlement verification; software installations required including Rockstar Games Social Club platform, DirectX, Chromium, and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 sp1 Redistributable Package, and authentication software that recognizes certain hardware attributes for entitlement, digital rights management, system, and other support purposes.Single use serial code registration via internet required; registration is limited to one Rockstar Games Social Club Account (13+) per serial code; only one log-in allowed per Social Club account at any time; serial code(s) are non-transferable once used; Social Club accounts are non-transferrable."
Yay! Another GTA V thread from Elmofongo . :p

Aren't you overhype it a bit ?

The reason I ask this is because does Crysis games also suffer from the same problem?

I have 1, Warhead, and 3 installed on my computer. Do they also have Hardware authentication? If so how do I avoid that? Do I just uninstall the game before I change the hardware?

The Game is just that GOOD!!11!!

Its my GOTY of 2013.

They added a first person view mode for this PC and PS4 version which will make Keyboard and Mouse controls all the more easier.

From what I heard about such systems they limit the number of hardware changes that are authenticated, i.e. after 5 or more hardware changes you would be locked out of your game for 24 hours. (Battlefield hardline had something similar)
I think you will be alright, considering that it is only one change in hardware.

I would have questioned that if you hadn't added "my". ;)

There are plenty of games that allow say 5 big enough hardware changes and then cease working period.
Honestly, I don't even care about this anymore. Why did I open the thread? Why am I commenting?

...I think it's time to go out there and buy a life or something.
