No, but you make yourself look like an idiot oO

That is reason enough for me to ask you to never go anywhere near Wikipedia, online teaching materials, small impressionable children or schools.
Misinformation is a weapon of mass-destruction, Americas and SJW's favourite WMD.

The story you added after just makes me wonder about the level of medication you are on. I think you need to up the dosage. Those fuzzy images are getting in the way of the real world again.

1- Your sexual preference are rather unique. I take it your are finding it hard to find someone. Try PlentyOfFish.
2- I really doubt anyone fitting that exact description has made their way from Reddit and Twitter to here yet. I am sure they are following in your footsteps, but you appear to have gotten here first.

Best reply so far. This basically solves all our problems! You're a genius!

A thousand years from now, these words will be etched in stone on our new 2nd homeworld.

I don't know, Cros, that post of itchy's smacked of some raw homoeroticism!

TStael: And how about a little cheer from a RPG fancying sis?

I only have three better guy pals that are somewhat into gaming, plus we used to game quite some with my brother when kiddies - and none of them are nasties to anyone else, it would be alien thinking! Of course, there are reasons I treasure them as friends.

I do not personally know any gamer, boy or gal, who thinks some default group or other should not have the same joy of immersion as them.

This is what I also think, even that hetero-normative white phallocrat of a gamer included... ;-) I mean, they have GTA, good on them - I have BioWare, Larian etc - good on me.

Solidary of immersion, that's my ideal.

I do also think that there must be possibility of frank debate around problematic content.
avatar
LiquidOxygen80: Therein lies the innate problem of "problematic content." It's automatically subjective and relatively impossible to cater to everyone in every space and every walk of life. It's why things like marketing demographics exist, in order to maximize appeal to the broadest spectrum of potential customers possible.

I think if people were just able to accept that not ALL games are going to be for our potential demographic and move on, without taking it as a veiled insult when someone is vocal about it, half the hand-wringing censorship advocates simply wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Especially if all content is clearly labeled in the online adverts, packaging, etc.

If the people decrying "problematic content" would simply recognize that some products aren't for them in the same way, and simply say "this isn't FOR me" rather than "this shouldn't exist at all," then I also believe there wouldn't be as big of a slapfight going on.

All that said, I grew up with two sisters who loved games and gaming, one of whom also loved the hell out of DoA Beach Volleyball. (Go figure.) They both played fighting games, FPS', RPGs, action games, adventure games, you name it. Never once, though, did I ever hear either of them utter the words "this is sexist."
I do indeed agree that understanding of "problematic content" varies - and maybe some want to see none, or others love anything that provokes.

But how comes I see yer post as building up for a pre-emptive strike of "go away, let's not talk about it" - or at least I should admit I have a major agenda (*) that is alien to pure game immersion joy, eh? :-)

* "feminism", "gay-rights", "censorship" or generic "SJW label" would do admirably, right? Right! :-D

It's nice to label, as it allows neat little explanation of the world and others - but I originally criticized Dethmold's (TW2 =The Withcer 2) characterization because I am a fan (for now).

I think I should be able to say what I think is wrong about something I love - when I have highly anticipated it, paid pre-order prices, and gamed away. Just like that. I also compare how torture is treated in TW2 and Dragon Age series ... and I find the even tentative eroticization of torture in TW2 quite as problematic as paedophilia stuff by JRR Martin.

Why? Because both are horrendously topical and brutal problems in our real world today. I do, perso, think that casual use of torture or paedo stuff as dramatic licence - especially if erotic frisson is thrown in - trivializes something that should not be casually trivialized. It is "problematic content" because persons are tortured as of today, and children raped likewise.

You prefer to see "problematic content" as an "external attack" of sorts, I suspect. It is not. Not exclusively, at least.

And if yer two sis still game today, and remotely like RPGs - pass on my recommendation of Divinity II - Ego Dragonis by Larian!

I never had a nicer game-ass, put to best swaying effect, as I ran through the game-world to whack the ungodly and save the day! ;-) Indeed - nothing sexist about that.

Edit: fouk me - italics. Again, and always! And clarified use of pronouns in second paragraph.

Ah yes, the same old stupid excuse...
Because sometime, somewhere someone has done act X, the fact a game does something sorta kinda similar means that developer is completely wrong...

How dare a game depict (insert word here) when that is just such a bad thing in the real world...

Its basically an idiotic argument to justify complaining over nothing...

Don't you know that depiction and endorsement are literally the same thing? That's why I visit random kindergartens and set fire to any pictures that include oversized suns; that kind of blatant pro-global warming sentiment needs to be stamped out entirely.
