GOG is always experimenting with these sales. They did some things right this time and others ... not that well, IMO.

+ Offers last a determined and fair time (24h)
+ New offers twice a day give users an incentive to check the site frequently, without the need for them to constantly stare at it for hours
+ some discounts are unbelievable (in a good way), and new releases aren't excluded from this
+ the title page is like a candy shop, full of color and delicious treats

+/- less buzz in the forums compared to the weird event sales like Insomnia

- like you said, the free games are not really free games but bonus games, not gifts but rewards for buying, and as incentives for buying, for many they aren't as attractive and effective as they could be (which on the other hand is also a good thing for our wallets)
- the Ending Soon tab is the only way to find out how long a specific game will still stay on sale; and you have to play a Hidden Object Game in checking whether the game is to be found among all the other images
- forum and website are a mess, and shutting off some of their basic features during the sale is a very roundabout and inconveniently bad way for dealing with server overloads

reseme: This provide no incentive to purchase games that are not on my buy list.[..]
Is not desirable because I already own it, is a great game to have[..]

Trades certainly aren't out of the question, you could do that with it. Or you could be cool and give it away to someone less fortunate than you because it is an awesome game you'd like to spread the enjoyability of playing around to others!

If incentive-based-reward doesn't apply to you, then it doesn't apply to you and it becomes "default reward just because" which is nothing to snub at either. It's all about perspective, and with a little work, you can change yours to view things better!
lot of misunderstandings here, and maybe a bit of overreaction.

discounts and free games are a way of promoting this store and create more sales.

the three games reward should had been better, by simple checking if the account have those games or not. if they have then just provide a similar game that the account doesn't have.

when a buyer see the the three games, and he already have one or all of them, will not be: "Ah so nice!, I can give the key to random people on forum who can then upload them to torrents!" They will simple say to themselves, "meh" and move on. If they want a game they will purchase it and if that game is discounted even better.

what I'm saying is that the idea of the three games is good, but could had been better.

Or they could be nice to others and actually give them to other people, why would you worry about them uploading it. :P

I think that Gog needs to make specific deals with the publishers, before offering freebies.
They cannot arbitrarly gift any title.

Not unless they're willing to pay for it out of their own pocket. Would be a bit counterproductive for them to burn profits on game giveaways.

true. not sure how this can be avoided.

maybe having a tree like system, where you can select the first game from a list of three or five. then the second and the third game is based on your initial selection.

similar with an rpg skill tree unlock.

that will be nice.
I wasn't aware that thread discussions have to be literally typed out in the thread subject header. Wow. At that rate we'll all end up arguing via thread titles and going further into the thread will just reveal endless ...

... or maybe soft-core anime pron. Either way, excellent idea.

Screw it, let's just learn sign language and sit here at our computer screens flashing gang signs at the monitor.

That seems a lot of work for a giveaway. The incentive is probably mostly for new users that have few games.
Also, some people would be still upset because they own all or prefer other choices.
Give the game code to someone that doesn't have it, 'tis the GOG way :)
