MajicMan: As for man-made climate change. Total BS. In the 1970s it was all Global Cooling and the coming of the next ice age.
Arr ... really the question why I even bother. To just unpick one of the many claims in there - and one that's been debunked over and over - no, it never was Global Cooling. That was a media story based on nothing - with no credible science behind it. Even back in the 1970s actual science was concerned about Global Warming. There were only 7 papers published between 1965 and 1979 that pointed to a potential cooling (and even then only if Aerosols count would increase massively) compared to 42 in the same time framing pointing out that we were headed towards Global Warming.

Elmofongo: ...
Just thinking about you, Elmo, with Maria coming for a visit. I hope you come through okay.
Yup - imagine we won't hear from you for a few days / week but wow. Maria hit as a Cat 4? 5? Good luck down there, stay safe.
Just read that all of Puerto Rico is in total blackout. Wow.

Stay safe, Elmofongo. All the best for you and your family.

I'd like to thank POTUS for virtually ignoring this issue so that he can focus on more important things, like whether or not people are standing up before a fucking football game. :P

Just heard an hour segment on Public Radio, talking about it. Real mess. Power, communication, fuel, sanitation service, food, water, medicine... all-but nonexistent at this point.
What a dickhead.

you're just figuring this out now?!

You mean, the three days after the disaster when he totally ignored them so that he could focus on bitching about football players didn't key you into that? :P

And then there was this line:
"Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help. They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort.”

A quick check via Google on the forums doesn't show a recent posting. :(

Last I heard on the news this weekend was that 80% of the country is still without power and clean, safe drinking water is a scarce commodity. Hoping Elmo's doing okay, but I don't expect we'll hear form him anytime soon.
Does he have a social media or steam account? Those may have newer information right? Or at least show whether he was online recently?
