I used to play game on Steam, this is the 1st time I'm using GOG Galaxy, so is there anyway to backup my game and restore to other PC?

On Galaxy, click the game you want, "More", "Backup and Extras", and it should give you the option to download standalone installers, which you can just copy in a flash/hdd and install them on other computers, even if they don't have any kind of internet connection.
I wonder if game saves can be transfered from steam game to gog version....
Has anyone tried this?

Are you talking in general or about a specific game?

Just wondering. In general I mean.
I have some games on both platforms like Stronghold, Battlefront, Mount & blade, Syberia e.tc.

Thanks. Just now I tried to copy the game folder and paste to other PC, and then I open GOG Galaxy, change the install location to where I pasted the game and use "IMPORT FOLDER". After that it just show "release in 3 hours"
Is that mean it works?

I'm not completely sure about games that were once Steam-only (like Darksiders), but for other games, the saves from the GOG versions should be using the same folders as other versions (like Steam or retail).

I guess that you are trying to install and play Witcher 3? The game isn't available to play yet (some files will be made available some hours later).

Just download the installer in one place, and install it on the other PC. No need to install Galaxy on the 2nd PC (althought you can if it makes you happy)
Yes, it is the Witcher 3, I know it still not yet release, and I took quite long time to finish pre-download. I also know some files will be made available later. So I rather copy the game and paste instead of download the installer.
Can I backup and restore the game in this way? anyone try this before? copy paste and "import folder"

You can simply copy the installers over if you've downloaded the installers. I'm not sure if copy/pasting the folder would work correctly as there might be registry entries required (usually by the installers)... which might be needed by the patch

GOG has now a excellent restore function with can easily restore your previously installed and updated games.
Before reinstalling the System or GOG Galaxy simply copy the folder where you have all your GAMES and paste it somewhere safe. Once you have completed your re installation start the new GOG Galaxy to see if it works. Exit GOG Galaxy. Copy or move your backed up games folder back to your desired location.

Start the GOG Galaxy again. Go to library, choose the game you wish to restore Click the MORE button go to Manage and Import folder. Choose the game directory and let it do its thing.

To restore Witcher 3, 32 gig including updates it only took 250 MB of internet tragic.

Thank you GOG, we love you.

P.S. As far as I am aware GOG doesn't have could save function. So make sure you will back up your saves properly when you are backing up the game as well.

Hmm, if it really is that excellent? There were several steps involved and I rather don't want to "simply copy the folder where you have all your GAMES". I don't know if I have them in one folder and wouldn't it get quite big (this one folder)? And saving games in a cloud of your choice, would even be easier (if it were possible).

Hey,

Right, well it is a lot better feature then to download another 27gb of game back up copy. I am not saying that it is flawless but it is working well, I don't have to reinstall the game and re-download all the patches again. And the traffic consumption turned out to be the Free DLC download. So your game will get back to its original state with none possibly tiny internet traffic for us with limited bandwidth.
If you have doubts where your game is just click on More>Manage>Show folder.

If you are afraid of your saves, there is super simple fix for that. Just add your game save folder to google drive or drop box or any other could applications and tadaaa you have a fully functional save cloud.

Hope that helps ;)
