So I bought a GTX 970 card about a week ago, and I got the code for Witcher 3 emailed to me today. I followed the redemption instructions and redeemed the code here, but I could've sworn there was a way to activate the game on Steam as well.

Sorry if this has already been asked, I did use the search bar but didn't find anything. Thanks for the help!

I also want to know this. i would be very upset if i cant activate it on steam.
You cannot do this: Steam and GOG are competitors (except in a few cases where you can activate Steam games on GOG). But you should consider yourself lucky that it is not the other way round as you get a superior product here (both bonuses and a DRM-free version).
It's a bit like buying a product in one shop and then demanding that another one gives you the same product for free just because you bought it the first one.

heh, this topic should be sticky for a few days now ;)

and IMHO Nvidia should write it's not possible to activate it on Steam in ads...

Impossiboru, and always will be. No ifs, ands, or buts.

That would reduce sales, so they won't.

neither nvidia nor gog would want that ...

I find it bizarre that people automatically assume a game code can be redeemed on Steam without it being mentioned anywhere. I see no reason for nvidia to make a special point of stating the game is not redeemable on Steam when it shows GOG.COm

well, GOG is still not so well known, and many people think Code means Steam automatically, so it's kind of false advertisement IMHO
(and CD Project/GOG had some ethical statements :P )

It gets asked here often. GOG is in competition with Steam, so games aren't transferrable from here to there. Witcher games (1&2 only) on Steam can be redeemed here in order to bring more users from there to GOG.

Generally. Some developers do give Steam codes for GOG purchases, but you have to contact the devs for that. Also a few Steam games can be activated on GOG.

when you buy a game. you arnt buying it to own the game. you are buying the license to play the game. so your store comment is invalid. i dont care for DRM-free. DRM-free is only good for consoles when you want a physical copy. I buy all my games. im a collector so i am very unhappy about this nvidia steam BS. iv been buying from nvidia for over 10 years. when i do get a free game is has always been for steam. the reason i bought this 980 it was in part for witcher 3.

the fact that they left this info out is a major kick in the nuts to any nvidia supporter that buys also expecting to get a game for steam.

on top of that fuck gog. they should have left their fucking sausage fingers out of the bonus games for nvidia. most of us that buy high end cards expect to add them to our steam accounts. There is a reason I DONT USE GOG. i dont like it. i dont want to run 2 programs to access my games. nor am i going to close one to open another.

PC gaming is finally having its huge come back and gog is trying to fuck over gamers and the gaming industry by splitting up the community.
if gog cared any thing about gaming as a whole they would know that now is the time to wait before trying to compete with steam. I know that sucks from the business stand point. but the future of pc gaming is more important than some tools wallet.

so all the butt hurt gog fans go ahead and flame me. i dont like steams monopoly in pc gaming. but steam is saving pc gaming so we should go ahead and let that happen 1st,

Can't agee with you at all, but one thing is sure: giving buyers an option where they want to activate the game would be nice! People like you should try ask support if they can give you steam code instead...
