amok: As I said before, I prefer to get games directly from the devs. As a rule, gOg do not give gOg keys outside gOg, so really limits it a lot...

timppu: Ok, so unlike for Pheace, I guess GOG is the place to buy The Witcher 3 for you (as well as the earlier Witcher games). :)
Indeed, and it is what I did (except W3 yet, need to wait until I actual got the time to play it)

Emob78: So we're a cult errrr, I mean religion now? Does that mean we get to be tax free?
And we can legally marry people and own plutonium for religious purposes.

timppu: Nice condescending tone, yet you actually know nothing about why people prefer different things. Generally, I find people like you repulsive, telling others what their preferences should be.

Later this summer, I'll be going abroad (Thailand) maybe for a month or two, mostly to the rural area. I'll probably want to do some gaming on my laptop there some evenings, especially as there will certainly be lots of rainy days too (considering it will be already August and September then, rainy season), and the area is not really known for its activities, unless you're into working on rice fields. Not much of night life either, everything pretty much shuts down when the sun sets (around 7-8 pm).

The internet coverage there is quite poor. I'll have the option of either mobile (phone) internet SIM which will normally work only at slow 2G (GPRS) speeds at least the last time I was there, and I'll basically pay per minute (ie. I buy a certain amount of internet time with the SIM; there is also a much more expensive "unlimited time" option).

The other option is that one guy is offering WLAN connections in the area (pay per month), but it is pretty unreliable, and he always switches it off when it starts raining as he is afraid that a lighting storm will destroy his equipment. So he switches internet off just at the times I'd want to use the computer.

Even before that, I'll be going to our summer cottage for some time here in Finland, which also has pretty poor internet (mobile connection). It also doesn't always work reliably.

DRM-free GOG game installers are just perfect for those kind of situations. I'll probably put lots of GOG game installers on my external hard drive, in case I want to install and play something else while there (e.g. there are probably a couple of kids abroad who might want to play some game on my laptop). Diablo 3 would be out of question, as would downloading Steam games. I guess I could download/install, and then backup, Steam games (and then I'd need Internet to just re-authenticate them there) and rely on Steam's offline mode, but that is much more work and far less convenient than the GOG way.

On top of that, you are completely missing the mark if you think people care only if the game (+DRM) works at the instant when you buy the game. I tend to play games long after the purchase, sometimes even decade(s) later. Yes, I want the extra assurance that there are no arbitrary obstacles for that (like DRM). You suggest I shouldn't care for that, but that just shows how little you know.

I was actually wondering about that, is e.g.Kung Fury downloadable (DRM-free) on Steam, but you say it can be only streamed? Oh well, so much for the idea of watching it on e.g. a tablet during the flight or when waiting for the flight, I guess...
Yawn I'm in that exact conditions. I even have my connection capped both data cap and speed yet I have no issue.

Have brain when you plan for something.
Did anyone else think of Halo?

I see you still don't tolerate preferences different from yours. The term "covenant" seems to fit your kind very well indeed. :)

Now that you mention it, I'm getting this urge to go kick some Covenant butt. I'm not even talking about playing Halo, though. :)
