Greetings folks. Quick question for anyone that might have gotten a refund recently, or for any of the GOG staff that are floating around this forum.

Back on June 15, I bought Divinity Original Sin II: Definitive Edition, and ended up requesting a refund very shortly thereafter, as I mistakenly bought it here, when I needed the Steam version. I submitted a refund request that morning and have been waiting for a response. Thus far, I've gotten none but the automated one. I responded to it though, and reiterated how I wanted the refund handled (namely, get it through Paypal since that's how I paid).

I haven't downloaded the game, or even viewed the page (it still says "NEW" beside the title), so I know that's not an issue. But still, with 10 days now gone by, I'm curious to know how long I can expect given the current Covid-19 situation... especially since according to the refund policy, I've only got 20 days left.

Any insight would be appreciated :)

I had a refund many moons ago from purchase thru PayPal and it was refunded via Wallet Funds.

You could try and reply to your support ticket one more time and see what happens..
If you didn't download the game then the refund should be a lot easier. Also even if 20 days pass they will still refund it because you submitted your refund before 30 days.

I've done that, twice technically. Once back on the evening of the 15, after I read the automated response from GOG wanting to know how I'd like my refund (along with other links and such), and again back on Sunday.
You don't have to worry about the "haven't downloaded"/etc. bit. As long as you are within the 30 day window of the purchase, you should be fine.

Personally, I had to initiate a refund a few months ago. It took about a month before staff resolved the ticket and that was early in the lockdown phase of things.

The only thing you can really do is wait and keep up with replying to any automated messages they send so that you know your ticket is active. If the 30 day window of time passes, just be sure to remind them that you initiated the request within the timespan. I suspect they'll be lenient with this due to the wait time anyway, but a reminder never hurt anything either.

Here's my answer to someone else with basically the same problem: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/question_problem_special_category_of_help_me_followup_to_your_ticket_free_hitman_movie_not/post4

To repeat (what I think is) the most important bit: don't send new requests, instead try to PM one of the blues in the forum (if you manage to find one, that's online), and ask them nicely, whether they can forward your concerns (here: a wait time of 10+ days) to the people working in support.
Not longer than refunds from air companies.
I'm wondering more about how someone "mistakenly" buys something from GOG instead of somewhere else.

I think that the first thing that GOG did when Covid hit, was to send the support team home. During this period, I've also waited for around 16 days, before I got a response from support. This is not something that happens on GOG, but also getting blindsided by a world wide pandemic isn't something that happens.

Having said that, I'd like to add that in the past when I asked for a refund, my issue was resolved in the same day. Things are either going to get better, or if everything continues going downhill, finding time to play games will be the last of our worries.

This refund deal might be good in a small number of circumstances but other businesses that have done it were a sign of coming failure.

Game the videogame store chain in the UK did when they were about to fail.

Heck, I'd be happy w/ having Divinity: Original Sin 2 anywhere...whether Steam or GOG.

Simple.

My friend bought a copy while it was on sale and asked if I wanted to co-op with her. She comes to GOG and so I thought that's where she bought it. Nope. She bought it on Steam, because most of her friends have Steam accounts, but not GOG accounts. I'm the exception basically. I know there's crossplay between the two launchers, but I also know some people have had trouble with that. So, I grabbed the game on Steam before the sale ended there so I wouldn't have to worry about that, and then submitted a refund request here.

Now I'm in refund limbo.
