I've no idea. Matrices, indices, octopodes, crises, foci, criteria (singular form: criterion), mice, and dice seem perfectly natural to me.

Example: "Look at all those Amercan's big fat asses."

That should be "Americans' big fat asses." It's a plural possessive, not singular possessive. :P
