sergeant_citrus: 7 Kingdoms is pretty fun, even if it's ugly as sin. I think you can even find a legitimate free version out there. You can play as Vikings, Egyptians, etc. and there's economics as well as traditional combat.
Celtic Kings is on GOG and you can play as Romans or Celts.
Maybe also the Stronghold series? I haven't played it.
I have older/original versions of 7 kingdom, not enjoyable as much as Aoe. But I will try Stronghold. Thanks.
