It should be. I'm not going to waste time trying to find it. My goal isn't to achieve some sort of personal resolution, it's to highlight the overall terribleness of the current chat system. The current situation, when online users, even those previously blocked, are indiscriminately displayed on top of the contact list above the Certified GOG Friends and non-Friend constructive contacts, is terrible and evidently encourages harassment. I don't think fr33kSh0w2012 had "PM Starmaker some shit exactly two years from now" as a reminder -- rather, my username simply showed up on top of the contact list, which triggered fr33kSh0w2012's bout of derp.

I know another respected user is receiving harassment, too. Back when the trading/gifting subcommunity was targeted by a scammer, they requested an update for the PM system to display a user's rep and join date in PMs to cut down on scams. If it's not just me and that other user who are getting decidedly unwelcome messages, maybe we can make enough noise to have GOG implement blacklists sooner.

Nah you just shoot the crocodile with a harpoon! All I wanted to do is be friends with everyone! Starmaker obviously doesn't know what I have to deal with at all times.

In general, people try to do them best they can. Try to see that in everyone you interact with. It's a rule everyone should live by.

So I think fr33kSh0w2012 was probably trying to express something that was a sensitive subject and Starmaker tried to respond in a way to try to create a positive change or a wake-up call.

Clearly, the exchange did not have the desired effect for anyone and the only response that will help anyone at this point is grace. Try to take some time to think about the situation and how you guys can forgive one another and if you think that's possible, then ask for it specifically (e.g. "I am sorry to say what I did. I meant to try to open your eyes but I just made you deeply angry. And I am sorry for that."). And if you don't think it's possible, then I think it's best to keep plenty of distance and just not talk with one another.

That means willingly not chatting with each other until chat bans are available.

Sometimes folks here say things that are very personal. That can be very difficult in a large community which people mostly trust. But the community is inherently impersonal. We don't know each other very well unless we spend a lot of time writing to one another, and that kind of relationship doesn't happen on the public forums. So it's terribly hard to judge people in personal way. So in the future, I would recommend keeping harsh and personal judgments about public posts as public judgments. That way, everyone sees, everyone interacts, and people don't feel emotionally or physically threatened.

I hope you guys can find grace. But if not, I hope you will find civility. And if not, I hope you guys pack up and find another place to be because you guys both deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. We all screw up and I'd hate it if my screw-ups meant that I was no longer granted respect and dignity. And the same is true with you guys. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.
