Great news for avid gamers! Gamemusic Records releases a double vinyl album with the music of Heroes of Might & Magic III, the cult classic strategy title.

For the very first time in over 20 years, this fan-favorite soundtrack will be available as a much-anticipated collector’s edition LP, freshly remastered for the occasion. Gamemusic Records teamed up with Paul Anthony Romero and Rob King, the original creators of this soundtrack, to bring it back to life in a way that does justice to its legacy.

This exclusive release includes a double 12-inch vinyl disc (180-gram LP) packed in a gatefold jacket with antistatic sleeves. Each side of the cover presents stunning artwork by Magdalena Katanska printed in high quality with several embellished elements. Preorders are available via the Gamemusic Records online store. This first pressing is limited to 1000 copies total. In the Spring of 2022, the label plans to start shipping vinyls worldwide.

Gamemusic Records previously released the Heroes Piano Sonatas, a live album with arrangements of music from the Heroes of Might & Magic series. The label also has two editions of the critically acclaimed Frostpunk Original Soundtrack vinyl in its portfolio, as well as the atmospheric Kholat OST. GOG.COM is the official media patron of this latest release, offering fans the opportunity to play the classic game.

Offering a digital audiophile (FLAC, WAV) version of the soundtrack would have been great?

Nice artwork. But it's not for me. I'm not an audiophile (though I have healthy respect for anyone who still collects physical media), and I pretty much never listen to any game soundtracks. Even the ones I really liked rarely make "sense" to me outside of when playing the game.

Agreed. I don't see much point in having remastered this soundtrack unless they were going to both release it as a digital download, and also offer a patch which allows the improved music to be integrated into the game itself (but this patch, it it were to come, should be optional, not mandatory).

But apparently they aren't doing those things? If not, then that will be a huge wasted opportunity.
As much as I like vinyl, why not offer audio files for purchase like others have stated.

The album pretends to be an special edition of some kind. If I am not wrong the soundtrack was already available as a music album.

Anyway personally I consider that the sound in vinyl is more charming, more analogic.

Such a waste of resources of our planet!
HoMM3 soundtrack is great, but what about HoMM2? That one had some great tracks.

Yeah, with all the ways we're polluting and stripping the planet daily, I'm sure it's the vinyl edition of HoMM3 soundtrack that will ruin everything.

I feel like that game is always unfairly overshadowed by the third one.

All the Heroes games have outstanding tracks. Romero and King did an incredible job in all of them. If there is one thing that remains stellar throughout the HoM&M series, it's the music.

This firmly falls into the Weird Flex, mang.

And that's from someone who has a copy of Snatcher's special tracks on the format.

Thought the same, but after realizing that I wanted to keep a couple I went through some others included with the games I have here and found a few more, and more recently I've started to base the playlists I listen to while trying to write stuff on them. May not last, but for now it seems to work.
Releasing a game soundtrack on vinyl seems odd though, something for an ultra-niche audience. Then again, price puts it there too.
