idbeholdME: Yup. Same here. The dot has built up an immunity to the command. We need a new vaccine.
Oh, my child, once you are bathed in the light of the purple dot, you will know it is not your enemy, but your one and true savior! Hallowed are the Ori... I mean purple dots!

Please, no citations from the Book of Origin, lest you bring upon us the wrath of EA.
Hope I don't jinx things by mentioning it's name... Purple Dot appears to have disappeared of it's own accord on my end. Noticed this since last night. My browser almost feels naked without it. LOL! Joking. I'm happy it's gone. Anyone else here experiencing the same vanishing act?
Not me, I'm experiencing same thing over and over: any forum reply generate a sticky purple dot which then I have to cure with the console code. Perhaps I have to wait it over for some time, maybe I'll do just that.

Meanwhile my *SOLVED* ticket is going nowhere. I decided to give GOG 2 more years and then I leave for good.
That is more than enough to find some cash and a freelancer programmer to fix that damn thing! (and then some)
Sorry, but it's a really irritating matter for me personally. Thank goodness they have time and resources to support Twitter, Facebook, VK and god knows what other *useful* messenger services out there.

@mods you can ban me for being sarcastic since I broke your CoC, I don't care anymore.

Two years to find a freelance programmer? Easy.
Two years to find a PHP programmer willing to deal with forum software that's barely been updated since 2010? Eeeeeh.
Two years to find a PHP programmer who is also willing to move to Poland? Not on your life, buddy.

Oh, and, this is literally an unedited line from one of their postings:
Knowledge of at least some of the buzzwords: Rest, OAuth2, RabbitMQ or Docker.
You've already lost any engineer's attention when you mention "Buzzword", even if they're valid terms.

Quite a few countries from Western Europe have suitable candidates. F@ck even I would move to Poland only to fix the feature which was working fine before. Perhaps I should study a new profession just because GOG have better things to do!
If it's SO hard to get a cheap labour from Russia, Ukraine or Belarus (COVID and all blasphemy) then 2 years should be enought to employ a new forum engine. If they will not fix it one way or another I will not buy games from GOG, I know it's absurd but I don't know any way to protest against a provider lousy services other than with my tightly closed wallet, and I am(was) a big fan of GOG.

I had to Google the *knowledge terms*, what about it, I mean what's your point, that a potential candidate have no interest in this or what? Not matter, this will change nothing.
when business wants to fix something it's getting done. granted business can pay for the services rendered. but we're talking about the business with available coders so they just have to take one developer and assign a task.
speaks volumes about gog's attitude towards their consumer base. it can be fixed within a day even if developer never worked with this code, just by reading code and debugging it. some 20-30 minutes if developer knows where to look.

"Buzzword" is not that bad, but if you see it used in combination with "blockchain" or "AI", run!

It's the part where they say, "In House, in Warsaw Poland" which I think catches most potential hires off. Who wants to commute more than two hours (no matter the method) for a tech job? This isn't Logistics & PLC, where you have to go down and fix the stuck roller in Plant 7, this is glorified programming that's mostly WebOps.

The requirement to speak English in some form is likely another caveat.

As for the matter of a new forum engine, I have suggested several in the past, which don't even have the caveat of being a closed source engine. Hell, here's an article with 12 choices to pick from.

How hard it would be then to integrate that engine into GOG Galaxy would be a matter for their devs to decide by.

I really don't know. Since the COVID-19 incident GOG reported several times how their employees had to work from homes. Perhaps they will change that requirement or in talks of changing it, or maybe even changed it already. Can't say for other countries but if I am correct one can't travel from Russia to Poland directly (however a work pass and huge amount of money to travel through different country might help), and there is that hard requirement for having vaccinated plus a certificate (and not everyone wants that for varying reasons), lastly our vaccine might not be suitable for EU countries because it's still under research which might take many months only to be rejected at the end. And if a person have a family or good friends he/she might not like the idea of changing home place for work and pay additional rent for low salary.

The requirement to speak English is a bit too much. Who in his right mind would want it? Actually I don't see anything strange here. Perhaps by *speaking English* they need one to read and write documentation in English, B1-B2 category.

As for the new forum engine my biggest fear is that this might mean the complete change in forum style which I really like, yes it might be not that functional like others but it's really simple and convenient for me to feel attached to it, I'm using dark mode of course. Also it might mean the end of archived forums forever, if not the whole forum altogether.
Can't say that Forum was implemented in some way into current form of GOG Galaxy client, there is no button for it and the only way I know to open it is through the Store page and even that will open it in 100% non-scalable window like in some primitive internet browser. I believe that the new forum engine might be easier to implement if it's open source and the gossip about old engine source was right (something about lead programmer lost in time and space along with the code), and if not it will have the same way of opening it in explorer build-in window, the same way Steam opens it's pages in internal explorer.

do you believe someone can vanish with code? even if gog is that pathetic and can't manage storage for their vital files what language has it been written in so no one can't edit existing code? are you saying someone used compiled programming language to create web software?

I spoke too soon. Purple Dot is back. :( The next time it disappears, I will keep my mouth shut. ;)
Fixed the purple dot!

I opened the console, typed "allow pasting" and pasted the code from the OP
It fixed the purple dot. Then I typed again "allow pasting" to protect the console mode but it didn't work.

So I typed on the url:

about:config

and search for 'devtools.selfxss.count' and reset it to default (0)

I closed the browser and opened it again and now the console was pasting protected.

Thanks a lot! ^_^
