Hey guys, I totally missed the fact that my mobile contract is coming to an end and I have to pick a new phone. The operator called me today with an offer but I told them that I'd want to carefully check all my options first. I'm going for a cheaper package this time which means that I can't choose a particularly nifty device but even with the small selecton I'm having trouble to make a decision. Would appreciate some advice here.

The ones in my price range are these (price in ascending order):
Samsung Galaxy Core Prime
Sony Xperia M2
Sony Xperia E3
Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime
HTC Desire 610
HTC Desire 620

Admittedly the Desire 620 is a bit beyond the price I want to pay but if it turns out to be great I'd just be willing to get this one (and apparently the 610 had several notable flaws which are gone in the 620, kinda eliminating the 610 as an option). Anyway, someone more savvy here who might give me some advice?

I would go with the HTC Desire 610 due to the fact it has stock android and you can upgrade to 5.0 with it, Sony and samsung are dicks most the time and wont release updates for the phones due to the custom os they put on it.

and HTC phones are built pretty well compare to samsung and sony

Great, now Samsung has also entered the race and I have to choose among all three manufacturers, derp!I guess I kinda am as a PS3 owner but I don't know if a Sony smartphone is going to give me any perks gaming-wise. And admittedly I kinda prefer Sony as a company over HTC, despite having owned two HTC smartphones already. I already had one (this exact model, actually!) but Angry Birds played terribly on it. Heh, kinda confirms my experiences with Sony laptops where the graphics drivers were soon out of date and it was impossible to install the ones from Nvidia. :P So the Desire 620 does not have stock android or why did you recommend the 610 over it? The 610 kinda threw me off after reading about some of its flaws which were eliminated in the 620.

Of course if all you care about is price look and feel, you can always put Cyanogen on it and not worry about updates.

That is always the safest bet and tends to make your phone more stable while at the same time providing more features

I've heard pretty good things about the Sony Xperia line, not sure if that applies to the models you have chosen.

Nexus 5 is an excellent phone that is not too expensive.

I'm still rocking my eight-year old dumb phone! Only paid something like $30 for it, too. Yeah, yeah, I'm a dinosaur when it comes to these things. It may a bit dinged, worn, and have no sexy tech appeal whatsoever, but it still works like a charm even on its similarly ancient battery that originally came with it.

Sadly those aren't available to me without choosing a more expensive contract which I really don't need. Heck, the I'll have trouble making good use of the one I'm going for.

Here's a polish YouTube channel that I found helpful when my mom was about to get a new contract last year, quite informative and well put together videos. Apparently though they don't have reviews for every phone you have on your list, since I tried to search for the Samsung before I linked you the HTC review.

Personally I'd go for the Grand Prime, mainly because it has the strongest battery, large screen and appears to be the best choice IMO.
