The reason for this thread is that I can't stand not knowing something. I have gone to extremes several times before to find songs. Since I discovered Soundhound I have being using it constantly. Shortly after I got Spotify I created a playlist to supplement my really really bad memory, I afd just about anything I even remotely like or have nostalgic feelings towards or just music that is catchy or stays in your head for some reason: http://open.spotify.com/user/1152361796/playlist/13G7haIiEKyRo0iKAapAhK

I really want to add the song from the OP to the list, so I don't have to actively try and remember it!

Edit:

I know you are probably joking but just to clarify There She Goes is certainly not the song in the OP. Very far from it.

tinyE: That was also recorded by "Sixpence None The Richer" and I would imagine that's the one Kristian is looking for because that's the one with female vocals.

Sorry adaliabooks but you're wrong! MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! :P
But... there were no lyrics... it was just a snippet of the intro....
This has been gnawing at you since July, eh?

That must be pretty gnarly.

Now I'm trying to think of what may or may not sound like it would have female backing vocals after marinating in your memory for 8 months..

All I can think of is Del Shannon's Runaway if played quietly from a distance.

It would help if you could give a couple song examples of the style of the song, in addition to saying it's similar to Nat King Cole or Frank Sinatra.

I too wish I could do that!

But thanks for the effort everyone. This last one is a not that bad of a guess at all, but unfortunately not it. Although I did end up adding it to me playlist....

It's fun guessing a song. :)

Let me ask you this:

Does Runaway sound too 'loud' to be the song?

Is it too fast?

Not enough organ?

Can you describe the backing vocals in any way?

I am not sure about the loudness or tempo factors but the organ was very distinct and prominent in this song.
