I did once. It was a UT2003 tournament organized in my home town and I was absolutely killing it until I made it to the top 4. But then, annoyingly and to my disbelief they chose the one map that I hated the most for my 1v1 against one of the other guys : an exceedingly small map with a small maze at the bottom, and two elevators on either side leading to a platform at the top. I've always hated that level and ended up losing to someone I was sure I would've been able to beat on a more mid sized level where I would've had more room to move. Painfully that loss meant I was immediately out of the run for 1st and 2nd prize : a brand new gaming rig and a powerful gpu. Instead I was now playing for third prize : a USB disk and a t-shirt I wouldn't be caught dead wearing...
Still, at least I got my picture in the local paper, monochrome and all on page 13 I think.

Never. Nope, I never won anything in game related tournament. And I never got my name in any news or newspaper.

Yes you did.
Have you... won... gaming tournament...Pfft. Ha. Ha ha. Bwahahahahahaha!

Oh, that's a good one. Thanks, I needed that.

I don't think there's a single game I could be any good at competitively. I'm just not a competitive kind of gamer. Even playing with my friends I was never great. At best I was decent in some FPS games, at worst I was just hilariously bad. In RTS I was never all that great even in single player. I guess maybe I could hold my own at entry level in some Heroes of Might & Magic competition back when I was playing it a lot and had all the castles, creatures artefacts & spells memorised to a T. But even then as soon as anyone with multiplayer experience would show up, I'd be toast.

Don't be so modest! That competition I described was lightweight. I did once try to compete in a serious competition in Johannesburg. It was Quake 3 and we (some 3 friends went with) were absolutely slaughtered. I somehow managed to finish 9th of the 12 in my round, but only because I managed to find the BFG. By far my greatest achievement was that we managed to get off school for the day to go and compete :D

I'm not being modest, and I'm not complaining. I'm just not a competitive player. To be any good at that one has to devote quite some time to the multpiplayer game, and I pretty much always finish the single player content and move on. So obviously, I can't be any good at competitive stuff. I guess I possibly could be decent at it at least, but it's just not my thing. I sometimes read/hear people talk about multiplayer strategies and stuff for some FPS for example and I'm like "WTF are they even talking about?" my strategy consists of "move, shoot everything else that moves, don't die too much (worst case scenario, bury the enemy in your own corpses)".

That's why my favourite multiplayer game ever is Worms, becasue no one treats it seriously and competetively, everyone plays it the way I play everything - just for shits and and giggles.

Then allow me to suggest two multiplayer games, for shits and giggles : and [url=http://stabby.io/]stabby :)
Copy paste with something added:
I won a PS3 contest in my hometown FRISK 2007 playing motorstorm and the only reason why i won was because the controls were similar to flatout pc game and i usually played that game with my logitech rumblepad 2,i got halo 2 for vista which i never properly played since i usually didn't have vista or newer os but anyway still played with using some xp patch and it's one of those windows live games i think and one stage wasn't playable with the xp patch.
Oh yeah i was leading for about 30 seconds on that ps3 game i also got some t-shirts,magazines with cds dvds and pens.
There was also once a PS 2 contest which i was only fourth, but i wasn't used to the controls of another racing game since i never played motoracer or what ever game was that, got a PS2 shirt anyway.
Even though i was already a PC player back in the day.Only console i ever owned myself was sega mega drive and then i went to pc once and stayed on pc.
Also in the library kids were playing aliens vs predators 2000 i think and i totaly owned them as alien but that one wasn't a competition for prizes.

Oh yeah i totaly owned my friends on sega mega drive in wwf raw was too fast and i had a special way of holding the gamepad, also played some ps2 games at some other friend same story, also my friends asked me sometimes if i would help them beat a game.No pictures of me or i can't find any article about me winning a contest which sucks.
Too bad i had to leave my city in 2007 december when i went for work i wanted to attend more competition when FRISK was on 2008 and on but that didn't work out since i had to work in another city, returned on late 2009 when i lost my job.
Is there something holding me back, mostly not playing multiplayer games due to having an old pc and still can't afford a new one.I did play starcraft 1 multiplayer a little and stalker call of pripyat multiplayer a little. In starcraft i was once beaten as zerg by another player playing zerg and i simply didn't want to try it anymore beating my defences i had many hydralisk, anti air structures and he simply beat me by one mass spam of those mutalisk where one shot hit my units several times, didn't know i could use a defiler i think to protect from that and i shouldn't help an ally then i probably wouldn't lose.
Also got kinda sick in 2010 and i wasn't properly gaming those days it all stopped in a way.I am mostly playing single player games though and most games i played on hard those were also strategy games. But now i just play on normal to beat them faster and i am kinda back in gaming.
I never won anything, but I have had my picture [front and side veiw] along with a description on a poster.
