SLP2000: Also, I wondered about the rights to I have no mouth and I must scream. It couldn't be done without Harlan Ellison, but I don't know if anyone else has rights to it.
I actually sent an email to his webmaster two days ago and I'm waiting on a response.
To whom it may concern,

Currently the only way to purchase the "I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream" computer game for a reasonable price is by printing out an order form from your website and sending a check or money order. It's a fantastic game with big ideas that deserves to be more widely available. Have you ever considered digitally distributing it and cutting out the physical costs? While most digital distribution platforms don't bother with older games, GOG.com (a.k.a. Good Old Games) specializes in selling classic games and they do all the leg work to update them to run on the latest versions of Windows. They're basically the Criterion Collection of computer games. If you were to partner with them, you'd only need to send them the game and any bonus materials you might want to include and they do the rest. They treat each game they release with care and they promote them as if they were new releases. "I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream" is a much requested title on GOG and releasing it there would please many fans. Think about it.

You can contact them via email:

welovedevs@gog.com

Or via their online form:

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Barry Woodward

SLP2000: I understand that we may never see Dune or Blade Runner (if GOG can't secure rights to those games from rightholders), but other games should already be here.
Alcon Entertainment (https://twitter.com/alconent) recently acquired the rights to the Blade Runner franchise and were looking to film a sequel with Ridley Scott returning to direct. It would be the perfect time to re-release the game to reacquaint people with that world. Whatever obstacles were preventing the game's re-release in the past may no longer be relevant.

Vote for the games on the wishlist:

Blade Runner
I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream

Barry_Woodward: snip
Nice info, although I'm not sure if it helps. I can't see how this could help in acquiring the rights to game.

Also, you should write that you are only fan, not GOG worker. It may be confusing.
Also, maybe include a link to the game in the wishlist, but good job nevertheless!

Anyway, I helped an old frail lady cross the street in reasonable belief that she could quite potentially own a stake in the System Shock franchise. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I started this topic a couple of hours ago for CAPCOM games. It's not much , but at least it's something.

SimonG: Call me old fashioned, but why should I do GOGs job? I pay them to get the games here. It is in their best interest to supply me with games that I want to buy. I'm not doing their job for them.

Additionally, not everybody is such kind and professional person like Barry or Ubivis. Many companies would probably be pissed about constant spamming by some immature idiots with no manners.

And if a company wants to have their games on GOG, they should contact GOG themselves. If they really need some random customer to do their business for them, then they really should refocus their business strategy.
Well you certainly don't have to write anyone. It's up to you. Somebody like me, at least, has specific games he would like to bring to people's attention, and since the contacts we make seem to have the potential to bring about the results we want, I take some time to send an email or two to the company without spamming them.

But yes, maybe I assumed the "best" of people on these forums (at least the "regulars")? I suppose there's the potential to backfire.

Thing is, I'd suggest that not every company with good old games or good obscure games knows about GOG or has the idea to ask about putting their stuff up here, so sending an email may break that ignorance.

I tweeted Team17:

@Team17Ltd Is there any chance we'll see more of your classic games show up on GOG.com in the near future?

saramakos: If anyone knows WHO to e-mail these days about the SSI Gold Box games I am happy to do so... problem being I think it would need to e-mail about 50 different people!
Hasbro owns the rights to AD&D while Ubisoft owns SSI so both need to be willing to re-release these.
Just what I thought, basically there saying "yes were going to be releasing our games on GOG just some wont be up due to compatibility issues" So probably that could mean no worms 2, Worms Armageddon or World Party.

I tweeted Al Lowe:

@allowe Is there any chance the original Leisure Suit Larry games will be made available on GOG.com?

He replied:

@Barry_Woodward Probably not. I understand why you'd like to get them that way, and they're a great company but we're focused on the remakes

I followed up with:

@allowe Is there a chance the remakes will be available on GOG?

He responded:

@Barry_Woodward That is a possibility.

Thx for your efforts. :) Hm, remakes plural? I thought they were only working on a remake of the first game. Seems they're planning ahead.

I understand their stance from a business POV, but I'd like to have the original versions, too. :/
Actually I've raced to find the ISOs before the copyrights are purchased again.
I recently firebombed lucasarts offices and posted a letter to them later saying "That was for GOG, now give us Grim Fandango you fuckers". Then I kidnapped the daughter of one of the Microsoft gaming execs, and only released her when he promised to consider GOG as a sales platform for their games (I kept a finger, for insurance).

I also stormed into Ubisoft's offices and kicked the crap out of their staff. Then I realised they've got a load of games on GOG already. Then I continued for a bit, because they're UbiSoft.

All in all, a positive weeks campaigning. Just doing my bit to help the cause!

I've sent a hundred copies of insulting emails to ubisoft, accusing them of being assholes for releasing only chessmaster 9000 on gog, and no chessmaster 11 grandmaster, etc.

It didn't have the expected effect.

Haha.
That is sad but are we sure that he has rights for old titles?
