I thought of creating such a thread fo a long time but never got to make it. I find very interesting and captivating seeing some games are made by a single dev or a very small team.

The goal of this thread is to discuss and find great games made by a single Person or even a small team if the work is proportionaly inspiring.
Games published on GOG are, of course, the main attraction of the show but sold elsewhere is fine as long the game is worth mentioning.

Everyone has their own take in what is considered a great game, and that's fine, but we can left out generic stuff that while made by a single person, don't actually provide a interesting experience, say, hundreds of Game Maker RPG's on Itch.io.
I think games that are a technological feat, gigantic in scope, a pool of creativity, dialog worth a nobel prize, awsome graphics, mezmerizing art or even just very fun are more than worth mentioning and share, even if it lacks in other aspects, a single person can't be perfect after all.

Optionally you can include links to interviews, blog posts or other interesting source.

For starters:

Banished Made by a single person wich created the own engine to build the game. Available on GOG and a link to the devlog

Dwarf Fortress not available on GOG but if the first minutes of this interview don't captivate you and made you wonder about the game, go play Android games... Link to interview on DuckDuckGo
Fight'N Rage Available on GOG and while not an original formula by any means, I had a truck load of fun playing this game, higly recomended. When you see a fight with F. Norris vs The Boss and were alive on the 90's, you know this game had it right.

I believe Assault Spy was made by a single person, or a very small group of people. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

The Falconeer instantly comes to mind. Made by a single dev, Tomas Sala

There's a planned sequel coming, with base building and crafting element incorporated

- Avernum / Avadon / Geneforge series. Spiderweb Software is run by husband & wife team Jeff Vogel & Mariann Krizsan.

- Pinstripe. Thomas Brush. Aside from programming he even composed the soundtrack.

- Stardew Valley. Eric Barone. Aside from designing and coding the game (which has sold +20m copies), the guy created the soundtrack too.

Technicaally, Dwarf Fortress is not made by a single developer, but is a two man project by the two brothers Zach and Tarn Adams
Necesse developed by Mads Skovgaard But it's just a YT video embedded on DDG video search results page
A Short Hike - so simple, so awesome

Knights of the Chalice - I didn't like all of the dev's design decisions, but it's still a pretty good game

Although I guess they are more like "games made by a single dev who got a little help from others, too"? *

Since you asked for interviews:
Adam Robinson-Yu + Postmortem presentation (A Short Hike)
Pierre Begue / Heroic Fantasy Games + Matt Chat video interview with Pierre Begue for KotC2 (Knights of the Chalice series)

* And if that counts, then definitely also all of Dave Gilbert's games (Blackwell series, Unavowed)

Creeper World 3 - by Knuckle Cracker
Gunpoint / Morphblade / Heat Signeture - by Suspicious develpments (Tom Francis)
Axiom Verge - by Thomas Happ
Tetris - by Alexey Pajitnov
Thomas was alone - Mike Bithell
INfiniminer / SpaceChem - Zach Barth
Iconoclasts - by Joakim Sandberg
Papers Pleaxe / The return of the Obra Dinn - by Lucas Pope
Spelunky - by Derek Yu
Undertale - by Tobias Fox
Tower of guns - by Joe Mirabello

among others...
I'm pretty sure ΔV: Rings of Saturn is made by a single person.
Dark Fall - The Journal, Jonathan Boakes

Rather signinficant this one as its release, and reception, encouraged folks to try their hands at develloping their games with a much greater focus on commercial releases as end game. A great inspiration for other folks like Agustín Cordes from Nucleosys (Scratches) amongst many others.

Also FPP at a time when the focus seemed to mostly be on TPP.
I think I read Dust: An Elysian Tail was basically one person.

Yes, and you can play it from there instead of open youtube. No pullution to your youtube feed, no adds, no "contribution to the algorithm" nonsense, just video watching.

NIce list.
I was under the impression Zachtronics games were made by a somewhat "big" team, was Spacechem made by Zach alone?

Yeah, I guess we can bend the rules a bit for this one :P
I had Dwarf Fortress in mind when I wrote the "small team if the work is proportionaly inspiring".

Infiniminer and SpaceChem was coded by Barth alone, as well as most of the graphic. he did not work directly with others (as in a team, even though it was never bigish) until after those two (and he became more known).

Side point - Tom Francis is working on a new game - Tactical Breach Wizards - which not only have one of the coolest name of a game I have heard, but looks like it will be quite good as well.

Cave Story was one of the earliest indie games I played. Its sole developer went by the pseudonym, Pixel.

Mark Pay, who was responsible for The Spirit Engine duology, did everything except the sounds and music.

Daniel Renmar has created a number freeware games. He did most of the work for Iji (his most ambitious game), with some help for voice acting and music. I'm not sure whether or not he got assistance for his other games though.
