I just heard about Gothic yesterday! umteen years late to the party, but I'm wondering why haven't rpg's of today taken more from what was already done in these games?

yes it does but sometimes some issues could appear. I.E some people can't run the game with Skype open. If you stll have problems the Gothic System pack posted at [url=http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1340357-Release-Gothic-%C2%BD-%C2%97-SystemPack-(ENG-DEU)]world of Gothic[/url] should help. Check those features. That "patch" looks obligatory if you feel like the game has aged too much
