It makes no sense and it's annoying. And I'm sure, people who aren't careful will accidentally buy the Commander Edition when they already have the Overlord Edition... And those who accidentally buy the Commander Edition don't even get a 2nd copy of the game...

i know i know... same here. according to the gog store page, i don't own the overlord edition, even though i do, because that's what i preordered (back when tyranny was up for preorder).

It's not limited to Tyranny.
There are other games with this problem too.

Why fool people into buying a product when you can split it out into lots of different bits, make dlcs, combine some into packs, provide no upgrade paths etc. Simple, it makes more money that way. Just don't buy it. Eventually they might get the hint and release a full product.
