fronzelneekburm: Well, it *is* a very dark game. After all, most of it takes place at the bottom of the ocean. However, you're free to adjust the gamma more towards the brighter side. Graphics-wise the engine seems a bit stuck in the Doom 3-era, but there's a lot of attention to detail, which give the interiors a feel of an actual place that actual people live(d) in. There's tons of items strewn about everywhere, most of which you can pick up and examine, that tell you about the characters. Regardless of any technological shortcomings of SOMA's engine, the exteriors are nothing short of goregous.
I realize that, but previews, which are not full screen, should be a bit brighter to make up for that. I am sure that not everything in the game is so dark either. Anyway, against my custom, I watched 4 of the videos ... usually prefer making a decision without the propaganda and hype of most videos.
Doom 3 is a good thing in my book.
But hey, I like to take a risk (albeit an educated one) now and then, so I will probably grab the game now. It wasn't on my shortlist, but seems pretty decent all said and done. Thanks all for the recommendations.
