I was thinking September for the next one but here it is already (although late August seems not uncommon too). I suggest recording it as "The GOG Sale, WOW!!!" to fully capture the theme. August 22 - September 5th.

Added, however without "wow" ;)

It's interesting decision to start a big sale now. I'd never expect it as they seem to avoid big sales during July-August, which is rather holiday period for both GOG staff and most of customers. Until now they've rather preferred September and some kind of "back to school sale".

PS. Well, I've checked the sales history (click) and it's not exactly true what I've said. Big sales in last weeks of August were not so rare...
No weekend deal . Is another special sale on its way from Monday ?

Makes no sense. Weekend deal wouldn't collide with Monday sale.
I sense End of Summer Sale coming up.

They published the End of Summer sale briefly after midnight but removed it quickly thereafter. So, yes, it's coming within the hour...
It's quite disappointing, isn't it? :(

I hoped for something bigger or at least different (in terms of discounts).
Probably the first big sale scheduled is some kind of GOG Anniversary Sale or Halloween Sale. We also used to have Fall Sale in November, but it was a few years ago – there was no such event since 2017.
Probably black friday replaced fall sale. There's also halloween and winter sale start sometimes quite early in December so schedule is tight in Q4. And there just was big sale couple weeks ago.

But it is for a reason! :) It's a last moment for annual results to be boosted.
I seem to recall that there'd be a minor seasonal sale, for spring (Easter) and Halloween as opposed to the two major seasonal sales of summer and winter (Christmas) around October or early November. But we just had that 14th anniversary event with none other than Skyrim being introduced. So, I hope there might still be a minor seasonal sale before the winter or Christmas one. ✨

In 2018 there was a 10th Anniversary sale like this year's 14th Anniversary sale, and the Sale has been named Trick or Treat Sale 2018 started on 29th October, same situation coming up this year... Interview from 2011 and a last year spooky and creepy sale contains 2000+ titles but at the time there were 117 pages x 48 titles (~5600) and now it is 145 x 48 (~6950) 24%⭜ over one year! ^ expecting 2500+ as a treat or trick in two weeks
It's probably not a big sale (I'd also expect one later this month or in November), but note that weekend sale started today (a day earlier than usual):

Perhaps there's some event scheduled for Friday?

This is a weak one .
I wonder if this Gore Weekend is going to be the Halloween sale and there might be an autumn sale coming soon or in November. Or maybe no event until the next major seasonal sale (winter, Christmas). Hard to believe this weekend is all there's going to be until then, but who knows?
GOG tweeted a blurred image and wrote:

Don’t know if time and date are for a new sale or a Scorn-related contest.
