This is not a complain about GOG. Actually more like an introspective analysis about how GOG affected my economy. Ever since I made a GOG account I bought more games in a year than in my previous 20 something years of life. GOG has so many cool stuf that they make it really hard for me to save. Being unemployed does not help that much...

My point is there are so many awesome games on GOG and so many awesome things that I can't even take two months without buying something. And the way GOG treats the customer also motivates me to keep buying. Yes they have some flaws and made some flops latelly. But still try harder to please us than their competitors.

To all the GOG staff I have something to tell them. Keep bringing more games. Keep having awesome discounts and promos. Change only for good, for the benefit of the customer. And specially keep the customers motivated to buy your stuff. Keep making it hard for me to save money. I enjoy it. :D

I'm already thinking every purchase over twice before actually buying stuff as I'm also unemployed.
I bought a lot of stuff here and on steam etc. but now I'm rarely buying stuff as I don't want to lose all my cash just like that when I already own most games I really wanted so I'm trying to reduce my purchases on the absolutely "necessary" (lol funny expression since we're talking about videogames here :D).
And the other thing is that the national bank around here decided to fuck up the currency big time with an intervention to weaken it yet noone, and I mean noone understands it nor approves it so everything is more expensive and therefore I'm buying even less. It even cost me the cool messenger bag in one of the kickstarter tiers for the new Shadowrun campaing as its converted dollar price went up like 30% and so I decided not to go for it.

Ditto... of course before the last 5 years i didn't have any spare money to spend...

Although if i could have i would have been around on GoG's launch and tried to win lots of Giveaways, and get free games when possible. Seriously living month by month, no internet and maybe $30 to spend after bills and minimal living, and you pretty much do what you can.

I know how you might feel. I live in USA's backyard, which means the local currency is worth nothing. However I have never acquired games on Steam or other platforms. Therefore I don't own any of the games I buy on GOG. Which means I feel even higher presure. I watch gameplay videos before deciding to make sure I might enjoy the games. Until now I don't regret any purchase at all.
Eh the internet has spoiled me. The sales got me checking sites every couple days. Weekly sales, Season sales, Daily sales. Too many sales and I can't stop buying games.

On the bright side if there's always sales going on, no reason to pre-order or pay full price... right?

While I have had one job or another (some crappier than others) for the last continuous 14 years, I kind of weirdly rationalize my somewhat unnecessary spending on games - in fact, even now that spending is considerably lower than it used to be some time back while getting more games than then - for the time I will be out of a job. Hell, at this point in time I wager I have enough games to keep me busy for two years or more... and that would be if that's the only thing I'd be doing during that time. *admires Mt Backlog* ;)

That doesn't mean I have to have every game. There a plenty that either don't appeal to me or that I set aside for a later purchase. I'm still on a rather tight budget - always have been - but I'm actually quite amazed by how much gaming goodness that can buy me, while putting a little bit of savings aside each month.
