With the end of Q1 2026, we'd like to update you, our community, on a few things happening at GOG – mostly around community management and GOG Patrons – what our plans are, and what you can look forward to. All wrapped up in a format we figured we'd all feel at home with: patch notes.

So, without further ado, let's get into it.

One of our main focuses going forward is strengthening our relationship with the community. To make that happen, we've put together a dedicated task force with people from multiple departments across the company, working together to come up with, plan, and execute ideas on exactly that front. Here are some recent examples of what we've been up to:

PayPal as a payment method for GOG Patrons

One of the most frequent pieces of feedback after we launched the program was the request for more payment options – most notably, PayPal. We're happy to say that's now possible: PayPal is available as a payment method when purchasing a Patrons membership.

A note: we are working on the ability to easily switch payment methods mid-subscription. It should be available in the coming weeks. For now, Patrons who want to change their payment method still need to cancel their membership, wait for it to expire, and then resubscribe using the new method. We know that's not ideal, and we're working on a proper solution now.

GOG Patrons in GOG GALAXY

We've added the ability to access the GOG Patrons Hub, the GOG Patrons landing page, and your Patrons settings directly through GOG GALAXY. If you prefer the client over the browser, you can now reach everything from one place.

GOG Patrons Hub and its expansion

This one's probably on your radar already, but we've created a dedicated space for Patrons on our website – a single, easy-to-access home for all the exclusive video content we produce. The idea was simple: not everyone is on Discord, and Patrons who prefer a different way of engaging with GOG shouldn't miss out.

Beyond that, the Hub gives us a real foundation to build on. One of the features we're currently exploring is bringing Preservation Program voting directly into the Hub, so you can weigh in on which games we should focus on.

Better communication and a more proactive approach

We're currently restructuring our Customer Relations team with a broader goal in mind: not just handling support tickets, but being genuinely more present in the community. That means more frequent and transparent communication – on the Forum, on Discord, and other places.

New Community Manager

Some of you may have noticed that we recently opened a recruitment process for a new Community Manager at GOG. Their primary focus will be growing and nurturing the community, with a particular emphasis on GOG Patrons. We’ll properly introduce the new CM as soon as they arrive.

Our current Community Manager, Jed, will be moving into a new role within the Business Development team, where he'll focus on acquiring indie games for GOG. But good news for those who like the guy: his new role in Business Development will still keep him close to the community, so you haven't seen the last of him ;)

Impact Update

One of the more important projects currently in development is something we're calling the Impact Update. The idea is straightforward: a regular report that gives the community a clearer picture of how Patrons' support contributes to our preservation work – including, where we’re able to share them, glimpses at roadmaps, progress on reviving classics, future plans, and more.

We want to do this properly, so we're not going to put a date on the first one just yet. But it's coming – and our intention is for it to become a recurring part of our communication with the community.

More glimpses behind the scenes

Beyond the report, we're exploring other ways to be more open. That includes regular AMAs with the Business Development team, interviews with various people from across GOG, and a blog series giving a closer look at our work and what goes on behind the scenes.

On that note, in the coming weeks, we'll be hosting a listening session on the GOG Patrons Discord. We want to ask you questions regarding various topics in the community management area, so that we know what you expect, what can be further improved, and what you'd like to see. We'll share the exact details, including timing and format, via Discord and email when we have everything planned out.

That's the update for now. It might not be the flashiest patch notes ever shipped, but it's an honest one – and we think that matters more. Thanks for being part of this. Every month of support and every piece of feedback shapes what we're building here. We'll keep you posted as things develop, and we genuinely look forward to hearing from you at the Q&A.

Yours truly,
The GOG Team

Ex7BD: a communication mishap or both :p anyway....its clear now! many thanks fellow goggers for clarifying.
Poor Communication Kills is a GOG Certified Classic.
In this case, poor phrasing without complete context.

Those classics/running gags are what gives GOG its unique appeal :)
There should be an archive or at least a "best of"....GOG historians where art thou???

(I recall voluntereeing someone at discord way back for that role = someone has to keep track and preserve the GOG lore!! = there should 5 GOG lore questions to part of GOG Uber Patrons - spreading a rumor now there is another secret hidden tier!!!)

Q1: What is GOG's Bear Favorite Color? :)

This announcement bothers me a lot.

So you only want to hear GOG community management feedback from Patrons and not from the GOG community at large? The only people whose opinions matter are the ones who pay an additional fee?

This attitude really decreases my enthusiasm for GOG. You were the scrappy, DRM-free underdog going up against other DRM stores by fostering a niche community of devoted fans, but this comes across as a snobby move that tells your long-time customers that they don't matter unless they also donate monthly. Loudly announcing that simply being a devoted customer isn't good enough anymore seems counterproductive.

I'm not bothered by this at all - maybe that's just me but I just trust that among the +7500 patrons there are people who are going to ask about or bring up the difficult uncomfortable topics (in regards to Devotion and how that was handled, for example) on my behalf.

I think they also have to limit the amount of participants somehow, in order to keep it manageable.
If you open the flood gates and let anyone participate it could get ouf of hand very quickly and impossible to have a proper listening session, I imagine.

Ah yes...Devotion. I think that ship has sailed. RedCandleGames is not a fan of GOG anymore. And who could blame them? GOG lied to us and to them in order not to sell this game due to Chinese governmental pressure. Just buy it directly from them.

SpikedWallMan: After this update, two things are still true:

1. I am completely uninterested in giving you free money.
2. If you start trying to force me to join Patrons by locking away features, I will stop giving you ANY money.

I'm concerned that GOG's entire service is going to become Patrons Galaxy, and at that point you're far, far worse than basically all of your competition.
<Insert furious (and genuine) clapping here>

For what it's worth (and I know it's worth very little), not every "patron" is happy about the existence of this stupid patrons program either. And not every patron is a yes-man. Some of us point to problems and complain all the time.

BS! Why do you pay them then?
To be able to nag them more efficiently (we can't exactly ping them on the forum) and for any potential FOMO content, which will hopefully never happen.

But yeah, the "listening session" should be open to all. This segregation is getting ridiculous. There are now three tiers of GOG users...

If it makes you feel any better, some of us have been on that server since before it became a patrons server, and many of us don't like the Patronage they created, nor the Tip Jar.

I said so since it was announced, I think it will only get worse and i hope I'm mistaken.

But only time will tell.

I've yet to see an official statement regarding this.
The only comment directly from Red Candle on the matter I remember coming across on Twitter I believe, only stated, and I'm para-phrasing, that Red Candle was obviously not thrilled about how things turned out but at the same time could understand and relate to why GOG made the decision to not list Devotion. Almost sympathetic and as in speaking from experience, coming under pressure from the CCP themselves, for the in-game Winnie-the-Pooh reference.

If you believe that complaining and drama are confined only to these Forums, let me comfort you in the knowledge that wherever there's a large group of people gathered there will always be plenty noise ;)

After GOG removed Devotion Zoom Platform tried to get it on their store. Red Candle Games declined this because they wanted to release their game just on their own store. This hasn't change since then. Devotion is only available on their own store. This is what the current GOG is saying about the situation:

I suggest to support to get Nine Sols by Red Candle Games on GOG. The wishlist entry:

Maybe this could be a change of the situation and be a new start.

Also, unfortunate timing.
Must have been around the time when the then GOG business department was prioritising pushing into and trying to gain ground on the Chinese market, and carrying a game not that popular with the vast majority of the Chinese audience at that time would have hampered if not brought that push to a grinding halt.
Therefore it might just have been a purely business-driven decision after all.

And one I think could still be reversed sometime further down the line, when the current supreme leader a.k.a. general secretary is not at the helm anymore, for instance.

Same here, got in as a "founder" before there were any "patrons", but eventually got thrown out under flimsy claims. Caring about GOG means nothing, in the end. Fall in line, don't question anything, don't complain too hard and pay your dues - that's how it feels.

Minimum system requirements for Drama:

System: Outrage 10
CPU: Meat Bag 2026
Memory: 4Gb of Non-Consistent Biased RAM
Graphics: Adnaseum OTT 1GB
Storage: only things that agree with one's option, everything else CRC error.

Other: for this title, no sense of humor should be enabled by default. It's recommended to keep your non-relevant tangent axe to grind nearby, as it will reduce the drama experience. Detached from reality takes will result in a more entretainment experience.

For the ultimate superior experience: tin foil and paronia settings must be dialed to 11 (aka Spinal Tap mode),

Thanks for being transparent about these changes.

Me personally, I am missing 2 things here:
- Reliable and regular patch notes for all the games so we would know what has been changed with a given update
- When buying various bundles and during sales, I miss custom flag "Game already owned" which I could slap over various other variations of games I own (and then subsequently filter them out), but for one reason or another they do NOT show as owned, even though they should. You partially tried to solve this with bundles which will be free if you own all included parts, but that does not cover every, especially older bundles or variations of games. So a flag like this would come a long way.

These are mine two longstanding gripes, anything else is either not worth mentioning or has already been taken care of.
Please, fix these two as well.

Why do you advocate for this position, instead of recommending to purchase Nine Sols DRM-free directly from Red Candle Games' website?
