With the end of Q1 2026, we'd like to update you, our community, on a few things happening at GOG – mostly around community management and GOG Patrons – what our plans are, and what you can look forward to. All wrapped up in a format we figured we'd all feel at home with: patch notes.

So, without further ado, let's get into it.

One of our main focuses going forward is strengthening our relationship with the community. To make that happen, we've put together a dedicated task force with people from multiple departments across the company, working together to come up with, plan, and execute ideas on exactly that front. Here are some recent examples of what we've been up to:

PayPal as a payment method for GOG Patrons

One of the most frequent pieces of feedback after we launched the program was the request for more payment options – most notably, PayPal. We're happy to say that's now possible: PayPal is available as a payment method when purchasing a Patrons membership.

A note: we are working on the ability to easily switch payment methods mid-subscription. It should be available in the coming weeks. For now, Patrons who want to change their payment method still need to cancel their membership, wait for it to expire, and then resubscribe using the new method. We know that's not ideal, and we're working on a proper solution now.

GOG Patrons in GOG GALAXY

We've added the ability to access the GOG Patrons Hub, the GOG Patrons landing page, and your Patrons settings directly through GOG GALAXY. If you prefer the client over the browser, you can now reach everything from one place.

GOG Patrons Hub and its expansion

This one's probably on your radar already, but we've created a dedicated space for Patrons on our website – a single, easy-to-access home for all the exclusive video content we produce. The idea was simple: not everyone is on Discord, and Patrons who prefer a different way of engaging with GOG shouldn't miss out.

Beyond that, the Hub gives us a real foundation to build on. One of the features we're currently exploring is bringing Preservation Program voting directly into the Hub, so you can weigh in on which games we should focus on.

Better communication and a more proactive approach

We're currently restructuring our Customer Relations team with a broader goal in mind: not just handling support tickets, but being genuinely more present in the community. That means more frequent and transparent communication – on the Forum, on Discord, and other places.

New Community Manager

Some of you may have noticed that we recently opened a recruitment process for a new Community Manager at GOG. Their primary focus will be growing and nurturing the community, with a particular emphasis on GOG Patrons. We’ll properly introduce the new CM as soon as they arrive.

Our current Community Manager, Jed, will be moving into a new role within the Business Development team, where he'll focus on acquiring indie games for GOG. But good news for those who like the guy: his new role in Business Development will still keep him close to the community, so you haven't seen the last of him ;)

Impact Update

One of the more important projects currently in development is something we're calling the Impact Update. The idea is straightforward: a regular report that gives the community a clearer picture of how Patrons' support contributes to our preservation work – including, where we’re able to share them, glimpses at roadmaps, progress on reviving classics, future plans, and more.

We want to do this properly, so we're not going to put a date on the first one just yet. But it's coming – and our intention is for it to become a recurring part of our communication with the community.

More glimpses behind the scenes

Beyond the report, we're exploring other ways to be more open. That includes regular AMAs with the Business Development team, interviews with various people from across GOG, and a blog series giving a closer look at our work and what goes on behind the scenes.

On that note, in the coming weeks, we'll be hosting a listening session on the GOG Patrons Discord. We want to ask you questions regarding various topics in the community management area, so that we know what you expect, what can be further improved, and what you'd like to see. We'll share the exact details, including timing and format, via Discord and email when we have everything planned out.

That's the update for now. It might not be the flashiest patch notes ever shipped, but it's an honest one – and we think that matters more. Thanks for being part of this. Every month of support and every piece of feedback shapes what we're building here. We'll keep you posted as things develop, and we genuinely look forward to hearing from you at the Q&A.

Yours truly,
The GOG Team

Stabbey: Now, I don't use PayPal very much, but I am baffled at the idea of implementing paying through PayPal... but only if you subscribe to the GoG Very Special Customers service. GoG is a store, and presumably you want people to buy products. If you're enabling PayPal for Very Special Customers, why can't you implement it for everyone?
GOG has supported buying games through Paypal for more than 15 years now. In this announcement, they are talking specifically about adding the option to pay the Patron subscription itself via Paypal as well.

Offering a new payment option (PayPal) only to Patrons sounds... odd. Or then I misunderstood something.

Whatever, doesn't affect me, I keep paying with my debit card, the same one I buy my daily groceries and toilet paper.
Only poor people use credit cards, the kind of people who don't have enough money on their back account. Haha, losers!

Sorry GOG I am not a patron, but I feel using money on buying games is a much stronger incentive for publishers to bring their games to the store, instead of handing that money directly to you over their heads. Capiche?

I mean, come one, this month alone I have already used 102,18€ on buying these games, skipping a few meals to have the games!

1.39€ Daymare: 1998 - Digital Soundtrack
6.99€ Look Outside
2.79€ Look Outside Soundtrack
17.39€ Neva: Complete Edition
15.99€ Skate Story
10.39€ Skate Story Original Soundtrack - Vol 1 & 2
13.39€ Pompeii: The Legacy
2.99€ Pompeii: The Legacy Soundtrack
17.49€ DOOM Eternal: Deluxe Edition
1.99€ Them and Us - Asian Costume Pack
8.49€ Them and Us Bundle
2.89€ FRAMED Collection - Deluxe Edition

Yes, you did.
PayPal already is (and has long been) available as a payment option for buying games. You can now *also* use PayPal to pay for a monthly patrons subscription.

edit:
I see that GOG chose an unfortunate subsection title: "PayPal as a payment method for GOG Patrons". If you only skim the text then this is indeed very easy to misunderstand.

Ah ok, even less reason for me to be angry then.

Sounds great!
Cant imagine this ever being posted on the other platform lol!

Now, my first challenge to Jed, and its a big one, but not imposible!:

Subnautica!
https://www.gog.com/dreamlist/game/subnautica

Wildstar:
https://www.gog.com/dreamlist/game/wildstar-2014

There are obviously easily 50 others I could name but these 2 I would cut off a finger to to be able to play again!
Wait no not a finger I need those to play with, a toe then yes a toe for sure. But a middle one pls so I can still walk balanced. Actually ok no, no toes or fingers! But I would for sure bow down, be eternally grateful and send you a huge giftbasket!

Can he do it? Can he move mountains?
Will he exceed expectations and rise above and beyond?
Will he emerge victorious and claim the title of God of GOG, Champion of Gamers?
The Negotiator?
Bosman Jed?
The Supreme Being?
Office Boss?
King Jed?

Or perhaps merely a Big Disapointment or The Office Daydreamer?
;D

Wildstar MMORPG only, wasn't it? I really wouldn't get your hopes up for that.

Subnautica would be great though. But with the game already having been wildly successful on Steam, the devs might not care about GOG's comparatively small money, unfortunately. (Hopefully that's not the case though.)

OK, cool that we have these types of... patch notes, I guess.
As a non-Patron though - are there going to be "patch notes" more directed to people, who may not subscribe, but are consistently buying games?

As in - improvements to the site, to Galaxy, to offline installers, maybe some fixes for the titles from 2nd class citizens list/broken achievements/other lists that are being chronicled dilligently by the community?

I know that Patrons are important (although it would be nice to see where the money actually goes, but this is one of the points from this post, so it's being worked on) but there are a myriad of other things that I've already mentioned, tackling of which would be beneficial for all, not just the Patrons.

Does this new community drive include rescuing what little remains of the GOG Twitch channel? You can't solely rely on the goodwill of volunteers, corporate needs to get involved in providing funds. The income from Twitch isn't in the bits or the subscriptions, it's in the sales it drives.

Yes it was, but, I am certain and totally confident and positive that their magical skills can somehow make it work for a single player mode too, and just either remove the dungeon stuff or make ot local coop or something.
But that game can totally be played single player! It had soo much to offer, both questing, classes, fun stuff and the housing omg the housing creative options, its the one thing in life I miss the most because NO other game since has had the same creation free range options in a great looking art style as Wildstar had.
Minecraft etc is in 'set blocks', u cant edit placements in decimals, overlap items to create new creative ideas etc. this is what I miss more than anything in creative games, no other game has ever come close to what it has and it makes me tear up quiete literally just thinking about those memories ;(
The adventure aspects and exploring, there is so much to do without the multiplayer aspects so it should be posible :)
Wont be easy Im sure, I did say it a big challenge :P But, posible!
Miss my medic ;(

Subnautica I have played through a few times, I think about it so often when I need to escape depressnig stuff and all this war everywhere. Building a base, those shallows oh those shallows such a great cozy happy feeling there (cept that one time where a certain seamonster I wont spoil had managed to sneak or glitch up there somehow and made me spill my freaking tea everywhere and choke on my scream while I was just minding my own business outside my base picking up herbs from my garden plots and swimming around decorating outside! (will never get over that omg).
And diving down way deep, what a scary feeling that was every time.
I have the steam version but it just wont work no matter what I try, and I refuse to buy the epic version, so I am a suffering mess untill then :P

As always, I am curious as to what kinds of communicative changes will be made to our NSFW section here. Just today an adult game was released without a patch, so I'm not sure if Fakku sent a censored adult game or you guys just forgot to mark it as 18+? Very confusing. Most people who buy these are NOT looking for censored versions and of course, we don't have a proper post for this game to even address it.

And don't forget Jed about that list I DMed you with the many great, and highly recommended AVN, the very top of that list now being Summer In The City which has 1700 votes and was submitted in December. It completely blows my mind that GOG, regardless of the game content, would say they want to focus on the dreamlist and our votes, but yet they never responded to a developer who sent a game months ago that people clearly want. This is exactly the communication I'm talking about. It's in your submission box. Free money. Literally free money. I would fly to Poland, walk into the building, find the submission box, search for the dev's name and there you are - boom. Just like that, a game with 1700 votes on the dreamlist that you guys have had sitting in your submission box for months now would be more than just a dream. You'd answer yet another request and bring over a game highly requested by the community. That game has half the votes of something as big as Trails 1 Remake, which should say something about how badly people want it here. If you guys could do that one thing, it would definitely raise my level of respect because it means that you care about the dreamlist, you really care about it. Not just a PR statement, but you actually want to bring over the games we have all requested, regardless of what genre they are.

This is the communication I'd like to see. There's also games that were on the list that previous staff rejected, but people still want. It is not hard at all to talk to the guy over at Shiravune and say "hey, people really want Dohna Dohna on the dreamlist, could we possibly get that one back?" It's bad enough that you guys are days behind with the release of Amanatsu+ when Amanatsu has been here a while now. GOG is the only platform that hasn't posted it yet and the guy from Shiravune said he doesn't remember if he sent the build, but he assumes he did. Then he told us, "GOG just takes a little more time with things." So he's really patient. Also dropping Jast USA was a bad idea. Many of their games are highly requested on the dreamlist. That's an easy fill. I'm sure they'd work with you guys but GOG seems to be like an Enigma in the gaming sphere. No one really knows what you guys are doing anymore.

When you say transparency, I mean moving the whole wall so that we can see the people on the other side of it. A lot of us feel like we're talking to the building you work in and hoping that the people inside might hear us if we yell loud enough or something silly like that.

If so (also unfamiliar with the game), fingers crossed they start allowing self-hosting, the proper DRM-free online multiplayer, with such approaches.

The problem I see is that the technical work required is probably outside GOG's scope and I imagine it would costs millions - maybe even tens of millions? - to rework the game from its original MMORPG state into something the GOG community would accept, money GOG doesn't have and probably wouldn't make back.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be allowed to ask for the game or that people shouldn't vote for it if they want it, I'm just trying to provide some "reality" balance.

Rumbleverse appears to be the most-voted mass multiplayer game (not an RPG though) -

Indeed, i find the idea amusing (66%) and baffling (33%) and one needs another payment method before using PayPal (1%). Paywalling a payment option? Thats a first in my book....

Dont use PayPal, just find this a perfect case of how bizarre/silly the world is getting... Poor Monty Python they would be a failture these days.

edit: PayPal seems available here, maybe i missed something, i just dont get this as announcement or the value proposition

edit #2: noticed that many others had the same misreading about it...either we all can't read (which is possible if one considers english is not our native language :) ) or a communication mishap or both :p anyway....its clear now! many thanks fellow goggers for clarifying.

I know its maybe a bit of a hopeless dream but hey dont shatter that dream ;P I have great faith in Bosman Jed! ;D
But yes you are right, I know it wont be easy or cheap, but I will forever dream that dream :)
Maybe Carbine original team is interested in helping, they did a phenomenal job, but the game was sadly sold and went out of their hands after that :l
But I think for mmo games, Wildstar would be more than posible to make a single player version off without having to cost that much too surely :s
Rumbleverse hmm I just took a look but that one isnt for me as much. But I would probably check it out if it ever did get here:)
