Do they work without the client?
This question / problem has been solved by Kerchatinimage
I doubt I'll get the answer I want to this, but does anyone know if UnEpic multiplayer works w galaxy?

Sorry to semi-hijack the thread... it's related tho! :)

I haven't used Galaxy yet... I'd imagine multiplayer would work without Galaxy though, unless the game is dependent on it. Galaxy is rather new too, just an estimated, uneducated opinion though lol.
They said that they are working on achievements and multiplayer support to add in the future for most of the games here.
But how is possible for a multiplayer game to work for example unreal tournament without an client?
I dont understand?! Im a steam user most of the days..
I'm pretty sure that most of the games on gog released before Galaxy, do not use/require galaxy to play online, nor are there plans to add that functionality (of course some such as the Witcher series, do have achievements).

To answer your question though, yes multiplayer games DO work without the Galaxy client. (though I guess there could be a few that don't, but as far as I know most do. It's probably worth verifying on a game-specific forum, if you have any doubts)
LAN aside, to gain access to online multiplayer, you need to receive a unique serial key from support.

In the case of Unreal Tournament 2004, the download comes with a pre-supplied common key, that all gog users will have. Then to get a unique key, you need to contact support and they will provide one for you.

Also, if you take a gander at the store page for Neverwinter Nights Diamond, in the about section, you'll find:
"Multiplayer notice: In order to access the multiplayer you must first enter your unique cd-key. For details please follow this link. "

Hopefully that helps! Regards.

And yet even with steam some games require that you manually connect to the multiplayer, for example, (unless that something changed but i don't think so) Terraria doesn't use the Steam features, if you want to play with friends then you have to use a different program (exe) to create the server then your friends have to connect manually (using your ip) to your server.

Yes Terraria currently doesn't use Steamworks for multiplayer but come 1.3 next Tuesday it will. Just wanted to point that out. Not sure if the GOG version of 1.3 will use Galaxy.api in lieu of Steamworks or they are just going to keep the old Multiplayer system intact for that version of the update.

No Unepic Multiplayer doesn't use Galaxy you have to actually enter the IP of the person hosting the game.
